Boy I'm starting to get aboard the Fabregas to leave boat. The "hamstring" stunt this week is a bit too suspect for my liking.Barcelona seem way too confident atm with there sh*t 31m offer, why they are talking like they can play a waiting game, about market closes 31st August, they must have some assurances from the player... Altho I think the matter comes to a head at the latest by 16th/17th August, when the CL qualifer is.

Arsene Wenger is desperate to clinch a £15million deal for Juan Mata - but NOT as a direct replacement for Samir Nasri. The Arsenal boss is increasingly confident of landing Valencia’s Spanish winger and negotiations are underway between the clubs. But Wenger is not looking at Mata, 23, to come in for Nasri, whose Arsenal future is still uncertain after he stalled on a new contract and is ready to quit.Arsenal have been tracking versatile Mata - who has played for Spain at senior and under-21 levels - for months and believe he will be a top class addition to the squad.Wenger is also hoping that such a statement of intent will help persuade Nasri to sign a new £90,000-a-week contract, despite strong interest from Manchester United, Manchester City and Inter Milan.United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made an enquiry, and it is believed Nasri fancies a move to Old Trafford, with Arsenal facing a dilemma as to whether to sell now or risk losing him for nothing next summer. But the Gunners have told United there is nothing doing, even at £20m.Nasri may even be willing to sit out the final year of his contract and wait to go to Old Trafford rather than go anywhere else. The Frenchman, 24, returned to pre-season training yesterday and talks with Wenger will continue in the next few days.Arsenal have booked him to go on their Far East tour, which begins when they fly to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.Ivory Coast forward Gervinho will join the trip once he has his work permit, and Mata could be next in.The Spanish forward’s father, Juan senior, admitted there has been interest. He said: “There have been calls from foreign clubs but now the decision rests with Valencia. He is on his holidays.”Valencia have insisted publicly that the player is not for sale but talks are ongoing.Read more: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Arsenal-want-15m-rated-Valencia-winger-Juan-Mata-but-to-play-alongside-not-replace-Samir-Nasri-article762163.html#ixzz1RSbHNwTF Sign up for MirrorFootball's Morning Spy newsletter Register here

Samir Nasri has returned to training with Arsenal with the French midfielder currently content to play out the final year of his contract if the club do not receive a sizeable enough offer to tempt Arsène Wenger into selling him.Arsenal have already dismissed Manchester United's opening offer, thought to be just under £20m, with the London club rejecting it out of hand and not even deeming it worthy of a formal reply. That stance has reinforced the feeling within Old Trafford that Wenger is rigidly sticking to his promise not to entertain the idea of doing business with any of Arsenal's Premier League rivals, and particularly United. The feeling at the Emirates is that any serious bid would have to start at £25m and, even then, United are not entirely convinced that Wenger would be willing to sell to them if Arsenal can generate offers elsewhere. Senior figures at Old Trafford know, for example, how intensely they would fight any bid from another top-four club for one of their top players, citing the lengths they went to in 2007 to prevent Gabriel Heinze joining Liverpool. They also have extreme doubts that Wenger would be overruled from within the club and there is a realistic view at Old Trafford about the complications of negotiating with a major rival and the hurdles that have to be crossed if Nasri is to become their fourth major signing of the summer, taking their net spending beyond £70m.Nonetheless, they are prepared to take their interest as far as they can and are encouraged by the sense that Nasri wants to move to Old Trafford, both because of the finances on offer and the frustrations that he feels about Arsenal's failure to win a trophy since he joined the club from Marseille in 2008.Arsenal have come up with a new contract worth £90,000 a week, which would make him the club's equal highest earner alongside Cesc Fábregas, but the 24-year-old is conscious that while this is the club's best offer – Wenger is not prepared to break his rigid pay structure – United could offer him a contract of more than £100,000 a week.Nasri completed morning and afternoon sessions on his first day back at the club's training ground but it is not thought he spoke about the situation at length with Wenger and it remains unclear when that time will come.If the impasse continues, the danger for Arsenal is that he could run down his contract and leave as a free agent next summer, just as Mathieu Flamini did in 2008 when he left to join Milan after turning down a contract extension.Manchester City are among the other clubs considering putting in a counter offer, while Chelsea and Internazionale are also monitoring the situation.Nasri, meanwhile, will be on Arsenal's pre-season tour to Asia when the squad fly out on Sunday. With Fábregas keen to finally make the move back from Arsenal to Barcelona, Wenger is conscious that if he were to lose his captain and Nasri, following this week's transfer of Gaël Clichy to City, this would send a negative signal to his rivals.Nasri has already stated that he would consider a move to United, saying last month: "I don't know if I will sign a new contract. Anyway, the discussions are ongoing."Arsenal's two-match tour to Malaysia and China features games against a Malaysia XI and Hangzhou Greentown before they return home, ahead of travelling to FC Cologne for a friendly on 23 July.Wenger will hope he has resolved Nasri's future by then, though the situation has the potential to become one of the summer's long running sagas. The Guardian

TBH if I was Man Utd, I'd go HARD this summer for him. IMO its this summer or not at all.Nasri on a free with a season left, means a Nasri playing to grab the attention of Spain's top two and once that happens we all know Man Utd ain't rivalling them two.Arsenal are silly in one sense to not try set the agenda now, as Nasri seems happy to run down his deal, but doesn't really wanna change club this season, due to the Euros.

"We want to be successful so we don't really get distracted by this. If Cesc goes, he goes. He's been a great player for us and he'll always have been a great player for us, but it's his decision. When you look at players who normally come out and express themselves, it's when someone goes. When Thierry Henry went, Cesc expressed himself even more. Cesc and Samir together are great so you'd rather keep them but if someone goes then I'm sure someone else will step up."
Djourou says meh to the speculation.
ARSENAL legend Patrick Vieira is set to hand Arsene Wenger a major snub by turning down a Gunners coaching role. The French midfielder, 35, is ready to bring the curtain down on his glittering playing career. And he was sounded out about a possible return to North London to take up a role within the Emirates backroom staff. But Vieira looks set to become the latest player to slip through Arsenal boss Wenger's grasp - and head for Manchester City instead.City were his last club and the free agent is in advanced talks with the FA Cup winners about a similar role there. And Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini is sure he can persuade Vieira to sign on as a part-time coach.Vieira made his name under Wenger during a nine-year spell at Arsenal but has strong ties to Mancini, having also played for him at Inter Milan.

Arsène Wenger has vowed to fight as hard as he can to keep Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri at Arsenal. Both midfielders have been linked with moves away from Emirates Stadium during the summer but, speaking exclusively to Arsenal Player on Friday afternoon, the manager re-affirmed his desire to retain their services.“Our position is always the same, we want to keep Cesc and I will fight as hard as I can to keep him,” said Wenger.“Samir Nasri is exactly the same. We will do everything we can to keep him.”Nasri is expected to travel with the squad this weekend as Arsenal fly out to Malaysia at the start of their tour of Asia however Fabregas has a muscular injury and is likely to be left behind.Emmanuel Eboue (calf) is an injury doubt. “We will take the strongest possible squad,” said Wenger. “Fabregas will not travel because he still has a small muscular problem. He will stay and practice here. There is a doubt about Eboue who has done his calf.”Arsenal.com hope to publish the full travelling party on Saturday afternoon

Arsène Wenger says he is working “long nights” to bring the right players to Arsenal. The manager says he understands the impatience from the fans to see new arrivals at Emirates Stadium but, as ever, he is waiting for his moment.Wenger confirmed that striker Gervinho is close to completing his move to the Gunners from Lille. And the 61-year-old is doing all he can to add “one or two” more players to the Arsenal ranks.“We are working very hard on it,” he told Arsenal.com. “For me, the best thing is not to talk too much about it. The more you speak about things, the less chance you have to achieve them. The only thing that I can promise you is that we will work very hard and we have had some long nights to achieve what we want to achieve.“I can understand [the impatience among the fans]. Believe me, I know all the clubs in the world and everybody needs the same players for the same positions. If there were an obvious choice, people would have already made their decisions. We are at the top level and therefore need exceptional quality to strengthen our side. I can understand that people say ‘you have money, just go out and buy’. But it’s not only that, we want to find the quality we need. “I have said many times that we were very close to winning things last season, despite the disappointment we had at the end. I hope that provokes a response from my players. We were so close this time we want to come back and achieve it.“My responsibility is first of all not to lose players and then to add and make us stronger.“Let’s hope we can bring in one or two more additions of top quality.”
Edit - already in the WHOAG topic. f*ck it stays in here.FFS Wenger, you really have lost your marbles.Gervinho is as good as signed, if we don't sign Mata or a player of his quality and a solid CB/LB we are f*cked for the new season.

Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega has revealed that Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring his progress and he would be open to a move if a deal can be agreed that suits everyone. The Colombian, currently away on international duty at the Copa America, maintains that he will be happy to return to the DW Stadium for the start of the new season. He remains under contract with the Latics until next summer and will leave any decision about his future to the club.Rodallega's impressive performances in the Premier League over the past couple of years have seen him linked with a summer departure, with Sevilla and Villarreal both previously thought to be keen on taking him to Spain. The 25-year-old claims Everton and Arsenal are also keeping tabs on his progress, although nobody has yet stepped up their interest.Rodallega has refused to rule out a switch, though, confessing that he has always admired the Gunners.Speculation"Arsenal are interested in me and this is a club I have always liked," he told reporters in Argentina."There are many teams interested, it's true. Villarreal, Sevilla, Arsenal also have some interest, Everton of England."There is a lot of speculation but my future at this moment is at Wigan."I have signed for one more year in Wigan but if the club decides on my sale that is no problem if the subject is positive for all parties."Wigan manager Roberto Martinez stated on Friday that he expected to keep hold of all his key players, including Rodallega and Charles N'Zogbia.
