Balotelli Appreciation Thread

Hi everyone! I thought the point of view of an Italian could be interesting:

I refer to a previous post:

>strange that he wants to go back to a country which he clearly loves despite the racism and abuse he gets

Well, this is a partial truth. In Italy there are people who strongly dislike Balotelli, but also people who LOVE him (and supporters here can be very passionate about football!!).

So remember: what you are focusing on is just A PART.

As for the racist chants: I think those people were just trying to STUPIDLY offend him 'the easiest way', because sometimes he can get annoying (there are a lot of other black players in the serie A, and I've never heard that they get offended like that).

I would like to remind here, as an example, the episode where (just for fun!) he aimed at an old lady in the center of Milan and fired a shot (with a FAKE gun) at her from the window of his Audi car (lady panicked, police chased him).

Funny? well a bit... Normal? NO

Moreover, though we have a LOT of problems in Italy, I think for 20 year-old like him Italy is a lot funnier... I also suspect that interpersonal relationships are warmer here than in the UK.

Italy is a strange country, were a certain dose of improvisation/indiscipline/everyday life freedon (or slight anarchy) can still be enjoyed (which is bad and good at the same time).

One of our comic actors has one said that Italy and 'mess' are sinonyms :) You never get bored... :))))

If you add this to the food and the weather you have your answer, I guess...

MARIO BALOTELLI is set to be fined another week's wages of £100,000 and given an official warning about his behaviour.

The Manchester City striker, 20, will be docked the money after throwing darts at youth team players from a window at the club's training ground.

He was recently fined two weeks' wages for being sent off against Dynamo Kiev.

Now he will also be summoned to showdown talks with Roberto Mancini and a club executive to address his increasingly alarming conduct. City officials had previously been happy to accept Balotelli was merely young, immature and struggling to settle after a summer move from Italy.

But his latest misdemeanour has particularly angered the club hierarchy, who are increasingly beginning to feel the £24million buy from Inter Milan is proving an expensive mistake.

Balotelli's actions are proving expensive to him, too, with his fines this month hitting £300,000. While Balotelli has 10 goals to his name, otherwise he has been nothing but trouble for City.

He was injured on his debut and out for three months, then red-carded two starts into his return.

He has had a training ground bust-up with Jerome Boateng and threw strops after being subbed against West Ham and Notts County.

During another spell out injured and back in Italy, he drove through the open gates of a women's prison just to have a look around.

On the pitch he has received nine yellow cards and two red.

It seems nobody was injured in the most recent incident. But throwing darts is clearly seen as dangerous enough to merit disciplinary action.

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi claims Mario Balotelli's 'behaviour' makes him an unlikely future recruit.

The Italy international is currently on the books of Manchester City, having completed a big-money move to England last summer from Inter Milan.

He arrived at Eastlands with a reputation for producing the unexpected, both on and off the field.

The 20-year-old striker has lived up to that billing this term, with his 2010/11 campaign wavering between the sublime and the ridiculous.

He has vowed to mend his ways after being dropped by Italy for breaking the national side's code of conduct, but has some way to go before his character rebuild is complete.

It could be that his inability to control his demons will cost him the opportunity to turn out for boyhood heroes AC Milan, with the Rossoneri unwilling to take a gamble on his services any time soon.

Distraction

"There is a Milan code of behaviour that I don't think is very close to that of Balotelli," Berlusconi told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Every now and then, he has a bit of a distraction.

"I don't think his style suits us."

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has also played down the possibility of the Serie A leaders making a move for Balotelli once the transfer window re-opens.

He said: "Balotelli? We have four great strikers, so unless someone leaves it's impossible."
