Nas - Life is Good

You realise Ab Soul is a new artist who is basically just beginning right, he has the all time in the world to make an 'illmatic'

illmatic was nas's debut album tho

and this was before the mixtape ting was popping

granted

and that was my point before, it was his debut album but it was 1992, the game was different

if Nas was coming out now, he'd have a youtube channel, a mixtape and a twitter giving out free music

thats not Ab Souls fault, Hip Hop has changed since then

and just for arguments sake, Nas haters say he makes 1 good album every ten years, and some say he has never made anything like illmatic again

basically im sure in 2030, Nas will undoubtedly be a Hip Hop legend, illmatic will still be a a classic Hip Hop album, I think Ab Soul will be too, and im sure he'll have a classic album by then aswell (if Control System isn't it), then It wouldn't of been so silly of me to suggest you could ever compare the two could it

all im saying, my opinion, forget it now

as you were

Control Systems is actually better than LIG, LIG is decent its like a 6.5-7

But comparing joey badass, kendrick and ab soul to nas is getting too far ahead of yourself. But I would listen to each of these artists tapes over LIG and Nas is my favourite rapper.

I don't care about when they come out.

I would have no qualms with someone saying that Lupe Fiasco is equal to Nas lyrically, but Ab Soul, nah i'm not having it.

my point wasnt when they came out, that was just part of an argument, i couldn't care when they came out, but my point regarding that was i'd just prefer to listen to newer artists in 2012, my opinion

\

lol Ab Soul & Lupe Fiasco have actually met to discuss music and ideas, because Lupe reached out to him on twitter and said he appreciated his art, it was on twitter, let me find the tweets. But again, your opinion

Control System or The Warm Up?

Control System

Control Systems is actually better than LIG, LIG is decent its like a 6.5-7

Thank you, as long as I aint the only one, thought i was going crazy for a sec

\

Im not comparing their overall artistry, because you cannot, but in 2012, when they all have albums out, I know which ones im picking, thats all I was tryna say

Guest Chelsea Jack
As a teenager, Nas enlisted his best friend and upstairs neighbor Willy "Ill Will" Graham as his DJ. Nas first went by the nickname Kid Wave before adopting his more commonly known alias of Nasty Nas. In the late 1980s, he met up with the producer "Large Professor" and went to the studio where Rakim and Kool G Rap were recording their albums. When they were not in the studio, Nas would go into the booth and record his own material. However, none of it was released.[13][14] In 1991, Nas performed on Main Source's "Live at the Barbeque". In mid-1992, Nas was approached by MC Serch of 3rd Bass, who became his manager and secured Nas a record deal with Columbia Records the same year. Nas made his solo debut under the name of "Nasty Nas" on the single "Halftime" from Serch's soundtrack for the film Zebrahead.[10] Called the new Rakim,[6] his rhyming skills attracted a significant amount of attention within the hip-hop community.

You think at this stage in his career, Rakim or Kool G Rap would allow anyone to say Nas was better than them, but i bet ill Will (or a Nas believer) would of said he spits fire just like them if not better

You would of been 'hahahahahahahahaha'in aswell

lets hope this place is still here in 10 years

not really been following hip-hop too much lately, so aint properly listened to Ab

but you defo raise a valid point here

Are people really comparing ab soul to nas ?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

(its 2012)

This its 2012 so you can only check for new artists is whats making your whole point redundant imo

well if you quoted the whole post Gitesh, or maybe even read it, it would make sense you fucking arse

What's so funny?

they all gotta start somewhere

When Nas was fresh out people probably laughed at people comparing him to Rakim or KRS One

lol Ab Soul isn't Chief Keef or Lil' Reese so it shouldn't be a 'hahahahahahhahahaa' response

open your ears

you probably think Ab Soul, Kendrick or Joey Badass can never be compared to Nas init, well like I said of course they don't have the catalogue of work to back up my claim, but lyrically i'd have a hard time picking, and i'd rather burn 'Section 80', the upcoming 'Good Kid in a Mad City', 'Control System' or '1999' than LIG anyday of the week (its 2012)

my opinion

^^ lol every rapper is inspired by someone else

i never listened to mc shan ,marly marl, rakim eric b etc etc but nas shouts them all the time im sure if i listened to a few of thier records i could prob here thier influence in nas's music

yeh true but go and listen to joey bada$$ again it's like he's tryna actually be nas, I like the kid but I mean come on they even re made suspect and I deffo heard a few other rappers lyrics scattered across the mixtape

I havent listened to nas since God Son cause I personally think he's fallen off HOWEVER comparing ab soul to nas isnt the most ludicrous thing. Ab soul is a tight lyricist who's bars hold weight in topic. Joey Badass i'm not as sure he's only just started tho so we'll see.

There a lot of mc's that could test Nas Elzhi being one of them but people on here dont listen to them kinda dudes.
