And this is why you don't always judge football on stats, it should be used as a supplement to watching the real thing.
If Benzema puts away his chance Bale has an assist as well, even though he played poorly.
For what its worth, getting fouled doesn't count for an assist officially, otherwise Suarez has like 22 assists this season already.
