A Gareth Bale Real Madrid

Gareth Bale is on the verge of signing another multi-million pound contract less than three weeks after he became the world’s most expensive footballer.

Adidas, with whom Bale has been associated since he was 16, are hopeful that the £86million Real Madrid star will agree a long-term extension to his boot deal and personal sponsorship.

Bale’s six-figure agreement has surprisingly been allowed to run down into its final year. The sports kit giants had been uncertain whether to make Bale their marquee player while he was not in the Champions League, or at the World Cup with Wales.

All that has changed, especially as adidas supply Real Madrid’s shirts. They are now prepared to pay what it takes to keep Bale out of the clutches of Nike, who have Cristiano Ronaldo as their poster boy.

An adidas source said: ‘We are confident that we can keep Gareth, who has always been very loyal to the brand. But the deal has to be  right for both of us. It helps that we have the experience of handling David Beckham when he was at Real Madrid.’

Real Madrid may have 'committed an error' in signing Gareth Bale for a world record fee of £86million from Spurs, according to a leading Spanish doctor.

While Real deny the Wales international needs surgery for a back problem, the club admitted Bale 'has a small chronic disc protrusion, which is extremely common among football players and that does not in any case [affect them in] the normal course of their duties.'

Injuries have restricted Bale, who had no pre-season action while he was with Spurs, to 132 minutes at Real - 106 in La Liga and 26 in the Champions League, scoring one goal.

Dr Avelino Parajon told MARCA: 'If Real Madrid have signed Gareth Bale knowing about this protrusion, they have committed an error.

'That is not to say that tomorrow it can be operated on and he can continue playing, like has happened many times.

'But if he already has problems with protruding discs, that indicates that it is not a one-off.

'When a person has those problems at that age, it suggests that he has a great possibility of suffering herniated discs and symptoms arising from that over time. It is a bad sign for any athlete.'

Coach Carlo Ancelotti believes the forward will be available for the game against Malaga this weekend and, more importantly, against Barcelona in El Clasico on October 26.

Real’s medical team are concerned about the problems playing two games a week might cause and that surgery could see Bale sidelined for up to four months.

The Welshman's agent Jonathan Barnett disregarded suggestions that Bale was severely injured on Saturday by calling the reports: 'complete rubbish, irresponsible and a disgrace.

'He is the most expensive signing in history. If there had been a problem they (Real Madrid) would have stopped the signing.'

Bale had been in the midst of a 15-day intensive training programme and was expected to return to first-team action ahead of Real Madrid’s crucial games against Juventus on October 23 and Barcelona three days after.

However, with the injury setback, it appears he may have even longer to wait before earning his second start.

All English media says the fee is WR, but Madrid claim it isn't...

So which is it?

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has claimed that Gareth Bale is NOT the world's most expensive player, confirming that Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer fee was higher than Gareth Bale's.

According to Perez, Real Madrid signed Gareth Bale for £78million (€91million) from Tottenham, the revelations came to light after the Real Madrid president was asked about the value of Bale's life insurance policy on Spanish television.

Speaking on Intereconomia television, Perez was asked by an interviewer if Gareth Bale had been insured for £78million. He replied:

"Yes, sure. It's a life insurance, against accidents. Bale is insured for the amount he cost."

It means that Cristiano Ronaldo, who was sold to Real Madrid by Manchester United for £80million, is still the most expensive player in the world

It’s complete rubbish’, and yet they still print it. Whatever they say is a lie. How stupid and irresponsible of Marca to have run such a stupid story!

“He passed the medical, he’s 100% fit, there’s no problem. He’s the most expensive transfer in history, if there was a problem, they would have stopped the transfer.

His agent says something else though.

Perez will never come out and say he paid more than Ronaldo
