Pioneer drops CD player, adds touchscreen for XDJ-1000
The new CDJ-style deck is set for release later this month.
Pioneer has a new digital deck on the way this month.
Dubbed the XDJ-1000, it boasts Pioneer's iconic jogwheel and otherwise looks a whole lot like something out of the industry-standard CDJ line. There's one major difference, though: as the name implies, it won't take CDs. Music plays solely off of USBs and all of the usual track-selection functionality allowed by the company's rekordbox music management software. Though it's lost its CD deck, it's gained a touch screen, which lets users search for music by pulling up a QWERTY keyboard. The streamlined music input also seems to have translated into a lower price point compared to their pricier cousins in the CDJ line. You can see the XDJ in action—four of them, to be precise—in the video below.
Pioneer will release the XDJ-1000 in November 2014 for an estimated retail price of €999.
Bout time, no need for cds in 2014.

If the screen was bigger I'd consider. But because my external hard drive has 250GB worth of music and loads of crates and playlists it's still easier using a laptop.

the browser is pretty efficient already on the current models so having a touch screen will eliminate any problems with huge librarys tbh, will work just as easy as a lappy

We had a pair of the XDJs in our office, f*cking nice, had a play with them and didnt even clock they dont play CDs until someone pointed it out. USB & Rekordbox>>>>>>>>>>>

Also playing at this has slyly gassed me into taking this dj thing seriously
Was running the 900s off my iphone lastnight. So convienient.
Only downside is you can only sync your phone via wifi with rekordbox
Anyone got any vinyl storage tips?
Been storing them at my folks, but they are moving soon so need some kind of boxes to put and store them in.
Looking online I'm seeing special made cardboard boxes at £5 each, but they only hold 50 and i've got 1000+ vinyls.

Those cardboard boxes(if there from those storage placeas) arent bad..the amount they say fits...is too much ..i found they fall apart.
They can handle 30/40 a box.
ive got around 2000 plus vinyl...moving them is a headache.

buy proper speakers, if you ever wantr to upgrade your tings at least then you will have decent speakers and you probably wont need to buy a next set
