Tbh I've lost a lot of interest in new music these days.

It's mostly throwback albums and tunes and afrobeats that I listen to.

mtv arent relevant like that anymore anyway, their list holds no weight.. them tryna tell anyone about uk rap is like trevor nelson doing a show on the latest grime instrumentals

the people who draw up the list are usually people in fairly credible places in the scene to judge: DJs, journalists, label heads, etc

 

 

though tbh half of people who would have been good judges 5 years ago probably would be out of touch by now

Soundcoud has ALOT of talent, it needs to be showcased more.

They need to start paying attention to the Soundcloud artists, alot of underground uk rap is going unheard at a good level aswell. Tired of seeing people like Fekky and Krept & Konan being called "UK Hip-Hop" especially K & K. They're stand up comedians rather than rappers.

Also the proportion of blacks in America, and the overall impact of rap is much larger, ye their mainstream music is nearly as formulaic and bland as the uk scene.
