One of the pilots on the Germanwings aircraft which crashed into the Alps was locked out of the cockpit, it was claimed last night.

Quoting a source close to the French investigation of the crash which claimed 150 lives, the New York Times said that the cockpit voice recorder showed evidence that one of the flight crew tried desperately to force his way back into the cockpit.
“The guy outside is knocking lightly on the door and there is no answer,” the investigator told the paper.
“And then he hits the door stronger and no answer. There is never an answer.”
He said, “You can hear he is trying to smash the door down.”
“It tells me that he was locked out from the inside,” Darrel Joiner, a former US air marshal, told CNN.
“The doors are reinforced, which makes it a challenge to bring down.”
It was too early to draw a conclusion as to why the co-pilot was unable to get back into the cockpit.

Policy is that a steward should have been in the cockpit if one of the pilot needs a piss but doesn't sound like that happened

That's exactly what i was thinking aswell.

I think the fact they haven't released any real info about the pilots suggest that they always suspected it was something like this from the get go.

The pilot may have passed out/ had a heart attack or something

And his body blocked the door and his feet somehow locked off the auto pilot and flew the plane into the alps yh ?

Can't imagine how peak it must have been for the passengers, watching the captain, yelling and screaming while trying to break down the cockpit door for 8+ minutes.

Truly one of the most f*cked ways to go out.

Especially when you know its near enough impossible to get through the door without being Bond or Bourne.

Marseille prosecutor says co-pilot put plane into a dive

Brice Robin said the identification of the bodies has started, but the second black box has still not been found. There is a transcript of the last 30 minutes of conversation between the two pilots, he says. The first 20 are amicable. Then it gets laconical. The pilot asks the co-pilot to take over. The pilot leaves for a “natural call”.

While alone the co-pilot accelerates descent. He used keys of monitoring system to speed up descent, it was voluntary. We hear a number of appeals by the pilot to get access to the cockpit but there was no access. He knocks on the door but there is not response. There is the sound of breathing from co-pilot until impact.

Nahhhhh

Wtf
