New immigration rules will cost the NHS millions, warns nursing union

Royal College of Nursing predicts new rules for non-EU workers earning less than £35,000 will cause chaos for healthcare services

So.. u-turn or dig a hole until privatisation becomes the only option?

Sounded like a pisstake but reading this quote it does make more sense to me.

“The only way for the UK to regain control over its own health service workforce is by training more nurses,” said Carter. “Thirty-seven-thousand potential nursing students were turned away last year, so there are people out there who want to embark on a nursing career.”

Ain't enough training centres in this country but will spend millions at recruiting overseas

Makes no sense when that money should of been spent many years ago building training centres

There just seems to be some major trend with this country funneling it's wealth away from itself. Wanting to bring in foreign workers whilst rejecting your own people as we can see above. A welfare system that see's money constantly sent overseas. Foreign aid which is suspected to never actually reach the people that need it most of the time. Handing money over to the EU so that they can fund other countries to take jobs away from here. Constant greed of selling off British companies to make a quick £. Gordon Brown pissing our Gold Reserves up the wall. It's hard not to be the average Joe and look upon sh*t like that as sabotage.

Because I want a not for profit healthcare system rather than it being run by people who's sole aim is to up their own wealth?

What you want is completely misguided and shows an immense lack of understanding about public spending (quelle surprise)

If you want a completely public healthcare system (por ejemplo) who is going to manufacture, test, and control the important drugs that the NHS needs? Are they going to do it themselves, despite not having the expertise to do so?

The NHS has been using private contractors (successfully) for years. Please do your research...and I mean PROPER research, not newspaper articles or retarded blogposts.

Though if you don't have a serious degree from a serious uni, doing proper research might be difficult.

First of all they can hire people with the expertise to do things.

Secondly I'm not talking about drugs manufacturers, that's a different business as far as I'm concerned, same for the people who manufacture machines hospitals purchase. I'm talking about the NHS using private agencies to hire out Nurses, Doctors, Cleaners etc when they should be employing them themselves at a cheaper cost.

So stick your degree and research where the sun doesn't shine.

NHS England chief executive Simon Stevens raged: "We will have to clamp down on some of these staffing agencies, who are frankly ripping off the NHS"

Yawn...the same tired old privatisation bs.

Newsnight (left leaning flagship BBC programme) did a package on NHS "privatisation" and concluded that private providers have actually been BETTER than the NHS providing certain services itself.

Lol as someone who has profited from the nhs privatisation and is looking to profit from it again

Privatisation is very real at even the most basic level as say the a+e

Its been happening on the sly for a while

I wouldn't mind but did this guy not watch all the debates and lead up to the General Election where all the parties were trying to argue over who wasn't going to privatize the NHS or who was doing it less. Was pretty damn obvious privatization was a bad thing in everyone's eyes, although we know the Politicians secretly love it happening because they all have investments in it or are getting backhanders helping them all for profit companies out.

privatisation has a stigma but that doesn't mean every bit of it is bad

if there's certain things not needed on a week-to-week basis it can be cost effective to have that outsourced instead of paying to have it available all year round

This would depend on what services you talk about. Sometimes these "private" services are run by the same or at least involve the same personnel who work in the nhs.

When people go private..over 60% of their aftercare is handled by the nhs. This includes botched jobs they ran to Poland and India for.

Tbf privatisation is already here but privatisation isn't the problem with the nhs.
