There is little difference when your a child between being a fan and them being a role model. Infact probably none. You lot have been kids before right?!

If my child was a fan of Theo Walcott I'd be aware he is going to use him as a role model or be a fan of what he does, and I am fine with that, as he sees Theo Walcott 3 times a week kicking ball for 90 minutes his behaviour good or bad isn't going to affect my upbringing of him and distort the morals I'd have put in him every day.

I don't know why you lot are so caught up/being pedantic on this - role model phrase.

It's not pedantic at all if we're talking English we should be using words we understand and using them how they're supposed to be used

Having aspirations to be like, idolizing and imitating someone is totally different from having a strong interest/admiration for someone
