Grafter
16 November I will be watching, got bored with the Asians last time but it was jokes http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-family/articles/video-the-family-returns The Family, the BAFTA-nominated observational documentary series, returns for a new run, with a black British family filmed around the clock over eight turbulent weeks, documenting the universal themes of family life. The Adesinas are a large family living in the heart of Hackney, east London. Vicky and her husband Sunday have been married for 30 years. They are traditional Nigerian parents with strong views on God, love and family values, with four British-born children aged from 15 to 27, all living at home. Together they run a family business- a Nigerian takeaway and restaurant. This is the first time in six years that all adult children and parents have lived together and tensions simmer as the streetwise kids collide with their parents' old fashioned ways. Sunday is the head of the household and is a traditional Nigerian dad with a firm belief in discipline. Vicky is the heart of the family and cooks food for the restaurants. Ayo, 27, her eldest son, works in IT designing websites and also raps. At 25, Julie is the elder of two sisters and has just moved back in after six years away from home. She has modern ideas about what her family should be. Olu, 23, is her younger brother, and the self-proclaimed golden boy of the family. He would like to take over the family business one day. And finally there's Ola, the baby of the family. She's 15 and just back from boarding school for the summer holiday. For the Adesinas, this is a time of change, with birthday celebrations, love-life revelations and the day-to-day tensions of two different generations and two very different cultures, living together under one roof.
