Gambino
Big Boss is back! The next installment of the Metal Gear Solid series was unveiled by Hideo Kojima at an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear franchise. Running in the new Fox Engine, audience members were treated to real-time gameplay footage and seamlessly blended cutscenes of our stealthy star doing what he does best: sneaking, evading guards, and generally being a gruff badass. But, in a radical departure from previous titles, the game is set to be open-world. Rather than Snake, the game looks set to star his pop Big Boss – look closely and you can make out the Militaires Sans Frontières badge on his arm, and the strap from his eye-patch peaking out from his Sam Fisher-eque goggles. At the event it was also confirmed that an MGS movie is in the works, coming from Columbia Pictures and Avi Arad, who’s previously worked on Iron Man, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk. And, slipping even further down the excitement scale, there’s also an upcoming Unity-powered smartphone game called Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops, currently in development at Gree.

Gambino
My gaming scene has been dead for a while now but these guys are bringing it back. With GTAV coming, all this talk about Shenmue 1 and 2 in HD being released on the PSN and now MGS5 with Big Boss - "Just when I thought I was out they pulled me back in!" Gambino
I seriously hope they don't f*ck up such an epic storyline with the movie and just turn it into some action fest. Wonder who could play a good role as Snake or Big Boss?
Gambino
http://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co.uk/2012/08/30/metal-gear-solid-ground-zeroes-info-every-detail-we-have-on-mgs-5/ Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes info Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes’ reveal at the 25th MGS anniversary posed more questions than watching a boxset of Lost after suffering a serious head injury. Is Hideo Kojima’s latest Gear more Grand Stealth Auto than streamlined sneaker? What will Konami’s ultra sophisticated FOX engine bring to the latest Snake shindig? And who exactly was that bald dude who looked like he’d just been thrown into a Glaswegian chip shop’s deep fat fryer? Following on from a Metal Gear Rising demo at the event (featuring Raiden slicing up a Metal Gear Ray) Kojima unleashed a 20 minute, real-time demo of Ground Zeroes powered by the new FOX engine. It began with a cutscene opening on a military base being doused in the sort of sky juice we’ve not seen since MGS2’s rain-swept tanker intro. After a snazzy camera pan a scared and burned G-Man type in a swanky suit and hat is seen being escorted by a group of tooled up soldiers until he eventually comes across a young boy imprisoned in a cage – which no one seems particularly bothered about. The last time we saw the Fox Engine in action, it was a little boy with a dog, not a life of imprisonment Cue a brief conversation and the mysterious suit throwing the youngster what looks like a portable CD player (more on this later). The man is then transported to an airfield, where he begins to remove an ‘XOF’ symbol from a helicopter. Soon after, the whirlybird whisks him away. Metal Gear 4’s end-titles song plays in the background throughout. Then things really pick up. No sooner can you let off an excitable cry of ‘La-li-lu-le-lo’ than a familiar face pops his head onscreen after scaling a nearby cliffside. Sporting a distinct Splinter Cell chic, the figure flips up his night vision visor and we’re introduced to a chap who’s a dead ringer for MGS2 era Solid Snake/a youthful Big Boss. A poster of Big Boss(?) at MGS's 25th anniversary. Notice the eye patch straps under his visor Like kebab follows six pints of liver rot this well choreographed scene gives way to an appearance by Kojima himself. Stepping up to the grand stage with pad in hand he proceeds to give the stupidly excited audience a live demo. Taking control of Snake, Koj enters into MGS 4’s crouched stance and starts getting his sneak on around the large military base. During the ensuing action, Snake shoots guards with a third-person aiming system, avoids spotlights, rides a jeep and then embraces his inner Robert Duvall by getting airlifted out by a chopper with Ride of the Valkyries playing in the background. Annnnnd breathe. So what can we garner from arguably the most exciting showing from Kojima since E3 2000? Well, it certainly looks like Ground Zeroes is going to straddle the sandbox. The move to an (at minimum) semi-open world looks certain. Not only was the base Snake moved through larger than any previous MGS environment we’ve seen, but our cig-obsessed hero could even call in jeeps and helicopters to get around more quickly. It’s a ludicrously exciting premise. Metal Gear’s insane level of micro detail coupled with the potential freedom of a GTA 5. WANT. Guns Of The Patriots’ South American stage did hint at a more open MGS experience, with its relatively expansive battlefields and multiple routes to the mansion near the end. But this would be in a different league entirely. In a interview about Project Ogre Hideo Kojima once said “The kind of game I’m making is some game that has a very wide entrance, a very open entrance. Rather than making something very cinematic, make something very free”. It’s actually possible then that this could be Project Ogre and actually an MGS spin off, with number 5 still on the way. Seen a interview with Hideo when he was talking about the new Fox Engine and saying how they can't reveal what game they were working on but the Fox Engine will be used for them releasing Multi Platform easier and all this. The game he wouldn't reveal then was MGS5 so you can probably expect to see it on XBox.
