The deal has been in the pipeline for a while now, Real hold all the cards though, your right convincing Real could be tough, especially considering Bale's valuation.

I was more confident of it happening before the Bale valuation got ridiculous. As it stands I'm still fairly hopefull if not confident something could happen.

I'd expect we will bring him back at 65-80 Mill. Don't think Bales price matters much. They must be going all out for him as a replacement just like Calderon has been saying. 

 

Can read too much into things and make them seem suspicious. Like Rio tweeting Ronaldo that time about being there for him. Which just so happened to be the same game where the media reported months back that United wanted to unveil the deal at to bring him home with Chevrolet and Nike getting involved in funding it. Reasons to be optimistic.

When there's money to be spent United usually spend and am despite what has now become popular belief that usually means spending quite big.

New manager will naturally bring fears and trepidation magnified when coupled with a new chief exec, so spending could allay some of those fears.

Certain sources predicted developments in the Ronaldo situation over a year ago and since then the rumours have only strengthened,

Only reason to be pessimistic is Woodwards relative inexperience and his mid to long term brief and style. Won't have a better idea of that till the windows closed though.
