There is only a certain amount of goals in a side... If your cm scores 10, that's 10 taken away from other areas of the pitch...usually your striker especially if your goals for is good enough to win the legue ffs....
Always see guys mention oh this striker only got 12 goals but his strike partner got 30

FFS, Carrick is a DEEP-LYING PLAYMAKER. He is a NUMBER 6.
His job is not to score 10 goals or provide 15 assists. His job is not to constantly attempt over ambitious vertical through balls.
He is SUPPOSED to dictate play from deep. Make a series of intelligent passes, laterally & vertically, breaking the lines.
Do you want me to put it into context? Xabi Alonso & Bastian Schweinsteiger, 2 players who do the EXACT same job as him got 6 assists & 7 assists amongst each other respectively last season.
Are they creative? Of course. But creativity in modern day football doesn't necesaarily mean ASSISTS. Creativity can be applied in different ways.
