Werder Bremen midfielder Amaury Bischoff claims he will be transferred to Arsenal in the next few weeks. The 21-year-old is being tipped to put pen to paper on a long-term deal with The Gunners as soon as Arsene Wenger returns from Austria. The French domestic press claim that the North London club first approached the French-Portuguese six month ago, and he has now agreed to step up to a new stage in his career. The former Colmar and Strasbourg player is believed to be in England to undertake a medical prior to pledging his future to Arsenal.“A few details are still to be finalised,” Bischoff told DNA. “And most of all we’re waiting for Arsene Wenger’s return, he’s in Vienna for the Euros final.“But I’m hopeful I’ll sign in the next few days. Arsenal are a step higher (than Werder). I think I’ll play for the reserves at the start to recover my sensations, as I’ve not been playing for a long time.“And then it’s up to me to earn my place. The asset is that there’re a lot of games in England."Bischoff has spent three seasons in Germany but a number of injuries have prevented him from showing his best form.“I’d have played much more without my thigh injury, because the technical staff trusted me,” he added. “But I at least took part in 10 or 15 Bundesliga games from the bench and did train with great players such as Diego, [Johann] Micoud, [Torsten] Frings or [ivan] Klasnic.“It made me improve a lot. For the moment, my career is abroad."The France Under-18 international and then Portugal Under-21 international has opted to play for La Selecao. He could play at Wembley against England on October 14.

Wenger's Arshavin foxtrotPublished: Today ARSENE WENGER has been dubbed ‘a cunning fox’ in his hunt for wily Russian Andrei Arshavin. The Arsenal boss is leading the £15million chase for Euro 2008 star Arshavin, according to the striker’s club Zenit St Petersburg. Zenit official Dennis Lakhter said: “Arsene Wenger is a cunning fox. “In the morning he says Arshavin will play all the time at his club and during the day he says he doubts the capabilities of Andrei to play three games in a row at the highest level. “But this is a tactic to fool the competition. “He calls Andrei a Tsar and then tries to deny interest in the player.” Arshavin has snubbed a £3.9m-a-year Zenit deal. Lakhter said Arsenal and Barcelona have made approaches with the Gunners “the most active”.

ARSENE WENGER is leading the chase for Columbian scoring sensation Falcao. The Arsenal boss is desperate to sign a striker with Emmanuel Adebayor’s uncertain future at the Emirates and Eduardo’s broken leg. Falcao, 22, scored 38 goals in 58 games for River Plate. He has terrific pace and is able to finish with either foot. Wenger is lining up an £8million bid but the Argentines value him closer to £12m. Arsenal’s interest is sure to annoy Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.

An unnamed English club have failed with a £19million bid for Zenit St Petersburg playmaker Andrei Arshavin, according to the player's agent.Arshavin is expected to leave Zenit this summer after an impressive showing for Russia at Euro 2008.It has been claimed that Primera Division giants Barcelona recently had a £12million offer rejected, with further reports suggesting the Russian champions would only consider selling for twice that amount.Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with Arshavin; however an official approach from either side has yet to be confirmed.Arshavin's agent, though, has claimed that an English side have failed with a £19million bid.Sales"Barcelona failed with a £12million bid for Andrei and now an English club have had a £19million offer rejected by Zenit," agent Dennis Lachter told the Daily Express."Zenit want £24million, so clubs who want to sign Andrei will have to get closer to that figure."I believe they will because there are clubs interested in Andrei who are trying to sell players first."The figure is not easy to reach, but the transfer activity is beginning to happen and I am optimistic he will join a big club."I don't know exactly when Andrei's future will be resolved, but we have until the end of August, so we are both fairly relaxed."

RADAMEL FALCAO says he is desperate to join Arsenal.Boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing an £8million swoop for the Colombian striker as a potential replacement for AC Milan target Emmanuel Adebayor.River Plate goal ace Falcao, 22, said: “I know there is interest from Arsenal and that excites me.“If there is an agreement between the clubs I’m ready to go. It would mean a huge leap forward in my career.“I can guarantee my financial future. The Premier League is sensational.”Manchester United are also after Falcao.
ARSENE WENGER is close to finalising personal terms with Amaury Bischoff as replacement for Alex Hleb. The Arsenal manager has known the Portugal Under-21 star since he was a Strasbourg youth player in 2005.Wenger will throw midfielder Bischoff straight into Arsenal’s first-team.Bischoff, 21, turned down an increased wage offer from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen and insisted on joining Wenger. He will arrive at the Emirates on a free but the Gunners will have to pay compensation that is yet to be decided by UEFA.Bischoff admitted: “Bremen was superb but Arsenal is a huge opportunity for me. Wenger trusts me to be in the first-team and he has not put me under any pressure for the move. He told me to take all the time I needed.”Mexican striker Carlos Vela, 19, has also been added to the squad after receiving a work permit following his loan spell in Spain. And Wenger could boost his attacking options further by bringing in either Obafemi Martins from Newcastle or Blackburn star Roque Santa Cruz — both rated around £13million.Colombia international Radamel Falcao would also welcome a move to North London. The River Plate hitman, 22, said: “I know there is interest from Arsenal and that excites me.“If there is an agreement between the clubs I am ready to go. It would mean a huge leap forward in my career.”
ARSENAL have made a sensational 11th-hour move to hijack Gareth Barry’s move to Liverpool. The Mersey giants were locked in high-level talks with Aston Villa all day yesterday, as they haggled over the price for the Midlanders’ captain. But Gunners boss Arsene Wenger declared his own interest in midweek and Arsenal officials have contacted Villa to find out the latest position. While no official bid has been lodged, the Gunners are prepared to offer cash plus a fringe player like defender Justin Hoyte.Wenger would be able to increase his bid if Emmanuel Adebayor and Alex Hleb were to be sold, as they could bring in around £45m between them.He has long admired Barry and, having lost Mathieu Flamini to AC Milan and with Gilberto heading for Panathinaikos, has decided to act.Villa are holding out for £18m cash. If Arsenal agreed a deal, Barry would become their record buy.Liverpool do not want to go higher than £15m cash plus add-ons, which would take the eventual fee to £17m.
