my point was there is speculation that is believable then just the stupidness that way OTT and u no isnt gonna happen so you just ignore it. Im sure if u see an article saying man u were gonna sign a player for more money than they have to spend and pay him more than any player currently at the club earns a week then you wouldnt believe it would you. yes its a specualtion topic but theres rumours that fly around that are believeable then theres just stuff that seems like it was made up for a joke. i said nothing about only dealing with fact did i, nor anything along them lines. fair enough in your opinion any speculation should go in here no matter how over the top. i posted 'and this is why you dont bother with some papers, lol @ 160k a week' which was completely valid. not saying unless its fact ignore it am i. £26 million and 16k a week, surely you see my point.

Rafa plans big-money dealAnfield boss prepared to break transfer recordBenitez: Prepared to spendLiverpool manager Rafa Benitez has dropped a strong hint that he is considering a move to sign Carlos Tevez after revealing he is prepared to break the club's transfer record again this summer. The Anfield boss wrote a cheque of more than £20million for Fernando Torres in the summer of 2007 and followed that with the big-money capture of Robbie Keane the following year.Benitez has confirmed that he will not shy away from another considerable expenditure in the approaching close season as he plots a way to overtake Manchester United in the Premier League. The Spaniard's statement has increased speculation that the Reds could be considering a move for Tevez, whose two-year loan at United is set to come to an end."We may well break our transfer record, but certainly not Manchester United's," he said."But it does not matter about the prices, it is doing the right thing and finding the right players."But having all but assured themselves of runners-up spot behind champions United, Benitez knows he has to work carefully in the transfer market this summer to maximise the funds he has been given, or can generate. He said: "The next step is to overcome Manchester United, and that is the hardest. It does all come down to the money they have been able to spend, that is the difference.Money"If we want to reduce this gap we have to be really good in the transfer market this summer. That can be the difference between winning the two or three extra points that we would need to win the title."We do not have that sort of money, so we have to be cute and clever in the market. Then it does not matter if you have money or not."When you have a lot of money it is easier because nobody notices your mistakes. For us it is important to find good targets to buy and make ourselves successful."We have learned a lot about our squad this season, we know each player that little bit better and it means we can improve for next season."He added: "The fact that we have won nine of our last 10 games and not won the title just shows the high level of the Premier League."This season we have managed very good performances against the top sides, something we had not been doing before and now we have to improve a little bit more."We have 83 points and that would have been enough to win the title on six other occasions since the Premier League started."I can only underline that I am pleased and proud of my team to have gone this close."

Milan Supremo Silvio Berlusconi: I May Sell KakaThe Rossoneri chief has allegedly confessed that Kaka is on his way out of San Siro. The Kaka transfer saga is apparently about to start… again. After turning down a lucrative move to Premier League side Manchester City last January, the Brazilian star is now reportedly back in Real Madrid’s sights.Former Bernabeu president Florentino Perez, who is standing to win re-election to the post next month, has reportedly made the 27-year-old his prime target for next season and the Spanish media claim Kaka has already agreed terms with the Merengues. And Il Giorno newspaper today claims that Milan president and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi hinted that a deal is in the pipeline during a formal dinner last night with candidates standing in the election for the European Parliament.“This time I may have to sell Kaka for real,” he allegedly admitted. With those words he is certain to send the rumour mill into overdrive, just like he did earlier this month when it was suggested that he blamed coachCarlo Ancelotti for Milan’s failure to win the Scudetto this season while talking with a group of Italian tourists in Egypt.

"We may well break our transfer record, but certainly not Manchester United's," he said. Why does this guy feel the need to include United in so many of his interviews when it just aint needed he's showing himself up now he just sounds bitter.i'm not even sending, but if i was a liverpool fan i would've prefered him to congratulate united and fergie and then not mention either again till next season starts as then he'd retain class and good sportsmanship but ultimately would look like his completly foccused on his team for next season. and on another note in all seriousness i know this is off topic but do Liverpool fans on here think its been a good season, a satisfactory one, one where you have made progress but underacheived or just a dissapointing one.

Report: Napoli Reject Liverpool’s €22m Bid For Ezequiel LavezziThe Vesuviani have turned down the Reds’ initial offer for ‘El Pocho’, however, the parties could meet again next week.22 May 2009 10:10:37 Photo GalleryZoomEzequiel Lavezzi - Napoli (Grazia Neri)Related LinksTeamsLiverpoolNapoliPlayersEzequiel Iván LavezziAccording to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has rebuffed a €22 million bid from Premier League giants Liverpool for Argentine star Ezequiel Lavezzi. The 24-year-old has been frequently associated with a move away from the San Paolo in recent weeks, with the Italian press suggesting that his agent, Alejandro Manzoni, has been in talks with Juventus. It is claimed the Vesuviani were approached by an unnamed emissary on behalf of the Merseyside outfit, however, De Laurentiis said no to the initial bid.Things could change at the start of next week, though. Manzoni is reportedly arranging a direct meeting between the two clubs for Monday.Lavezzi is tied to the Campani until 2013 but there have been reports his representatives will seek a considerable pay rise at the end of the season. The former San Lorenzo man, who has netted seven goals in 28 league appearances this season, currently earns €1.3m per season at the San Paolo. Liverpool are allegedly prepared to offer him a salary of €4m to lure him to Anfield.Lavezzi has been sidelined with a muscular problem since Napoli’s 1-0 win over Inter last month but he could be back in action against Catania this weekend.Good signing imo

Arsenal's power brokers reassure Arsène Wengerby Gary Jacob: May 21, 2009http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle6330118.eceWenger is likely to continue to pursue his policy of signing young players with potential and has expressed an interest in Eden Hazard, the Lille attacking midfield player who can also play on the wing. The 18-year-old, who is also being monitored by Chelsea and Inter Milan, has three years left on his present deal. He has won four caps for Belgium. “My target is to produce with the money available in the best possible way,” Wenger said last week. “If it is £10 million, £20 million or £100 million, I am happy to work with resources I have and to do as well as I can.”The above is an edited version detailing the comments about Eden Hazard (the rest of the article is about Wenger staying and a little on Adebayor's future). Not sure there is much in this either other than a talented youngster being monitored by the big clubs. If he has 3 years on his deal and is that good, he could be out of our price range anyway.Arsene has £15m for Bred splashBy Mark Irwinhttp://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... R=FootballARSENE WENGER will test the backing of the Arsenal board with a £15million move for Fulham defender Brede Hangeland. The unhappy Gunners boss has been offered the club’s ‘unequivocal support by chief executive Ivan Gazidis following a long meeting this week. And now Wenger intends to cash in on promises of financial backing by making a club record bid for a defender. Wenger is still angry that he has been blamed by fans for refusing to spend big money in the transfer market. The Frenchman feels he has been left to carry the can by a board that promises major funds for new signings but rarely delivers. He will not back down in his pursuit of Norway international Hangeland and expects Arsenal to meet Fulham’s asking price. The 27-year-old cost just £3.7m from Danish side FC Copenhagen 18 months ago. But 6ft 4in Hangeland’s value has rocketed this season on the back of solid performances. Now Wenger believes he is just the man he needs to plug the holes in his leaky defence. The Gunners chief knows opposite number Roy Hodgson will not easily part with the defender, who still has two years left on his Fulham contract. But the hard-up Cottagers are in no position to turn down £15m and Wenger has made it clear he sees this issue as a test of Arsenal’s commitment to challenge for major honours next season.

Premier League clubs on alert after Manchester City confirm Sturridge is leavingChelsea, Aston Villa and Blackburn have been alerted to news that Daniel Sturridge will leave Manchester City.Talks over a new contract for Sturridge, who becomes a free agent next month, stalled months ago and Hughes can see no compromise in the pipeline.Hughes said: 'We put in another offer but that was declined so we won't be going back. We've not got much headroom to negotiate and I'm disappointed.'Hughes, meanwhile, is confident an agreement will be reached with Stephen Ireland in the coming weeks and he added: 'The decision making is getting positive.'We want to get it done and dusted and give Stephen the assurance going into the new season that everything is sorted. We've recognised the progress he has made this season and would like to reward him for that.'Shaun Wright-Phillips will miss England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Kazakhstan next month after being told he needs a routine knee operation.

ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzCRISTIANO RONALDO plans to quit Manchester United this summer for a £70million move to Real Madrid. And in a double whammy for United, Manchester City are ready to battle Liverpool to capture Carlos Tevez.Ronaldo has told friends and team-mates to forget stories he is staying at Old Trafford. After a hat-trick of titles and two Champions League finals, he feels he has achieved what he wanted. Now he is keen to revive Real's fortunes in a record-breaking switch to the Bernabeu.A United source said: "He looks to have made up his mind again. He is not saying it publicly with such a big game coming up next week in the Champions League final."But in his mind that will be his last. The fact Real trailed Barcelona in La Liga this season only makes the challenge more exciting for him."Ronaldo made his feelings clear to those close to him as recently as last Saturday, when the champagne was still flowing after United's title-clinching home draw with Arsenal.SunSport understands a number of senior players have been trying to talk round the Portuguese wizard but he is having none of it.And manager Alex Ferguson, who won the same fight last summer, will now find it very difficult to keep the World Player of the Year.A £30m Tevez move across Manchester to join old enemies City would horrify United fans but suit the unsettled Argentinian striker.Though there will be no European football at Eastlands next season, City can offer him the regular Premier League spot he craves.

Everton are close to tying up a deal for Joao Moutinho and the player has told setanta.com he cannot wait to come to England.Portugal international Moutinho has been a long-term target of David Moyes, who tried to sign the playmaker last summer. Now the Everton boss has finally convinced the 22-year-old to come to Goodison Park, with only the transfer fee standing in the way of the deal.Moutinho’s release clause is €20 million, although financially hard-up Sporting would settle for €14-15 million for a player who has had multiple fall-outs with coach Paulo Bento. The player himself admits he is waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement – despite plenty of attention from other pursuers, but he is clear in his delight at the prospect of moving to England."I am able to play in a foreign league and The Premier League is the best thing that could come,” he told setanta.com.“I know several clubs are interested, but the coach of Everton wanted me last year."
Could Arteta be moving??

David Silva has stated that he would like to see out the rest of his contract at Valencia amid reports that he could be sold by the club in the summer in order to help ease debts. The 23-year-old followed David Villa's lead by committing to Los Che after being linked with a move to a number of major European clubs that have all expressed an interest.Valencia are in financial trouble and have admitted that they will have to sell a number of players in order to help balance the books, but Silva is not expecting to leave."I have to be focused first on recovering to be able to help my team and I'm not thinking of anything else," he is quoted as saying by El Mundo."I don't know anything about the rumours and I insist that I have a contract with Valencia that I wish to fulfil."Valencia's defeat against Villarreal at the weekend means that they will not qualify for the Champions League next term and Silva now hopes they can make it into the Europa League."We've had bad luck, but we have to lift ourselves and think that we need to be in the UEFA Cup [Europa League]," he continued."I will try and be fit for the game, although it depends how my injury goes during the week. We cannot risk forcing it, but I'm eager to play and help my team in this important match."
