Manchester United Want Huntelaar To Replace Tevez – ReportThe English champions have apparently already begun lining up replacements for the little Argentine...Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Real Madrid striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar as a replacement for Carlos Tevez.Tevez is widely expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, with the Red Devils believed to be unwilling to pay the £32 million required to sign the Argentine international. However, the Sunday People claims that whilst Tevez will leave, United will instead turn to Real Madrid’s Huntelaar, who they expect to sign for €17 million. The English champions have been linked with the Dutch striker in the past, before he signed for Real Madrid back in January.Huntelaar has gone on to score eight goal in 14 games for the Spanish club, yet publicly admitted he was unhappy with the club after he was left out of their Champions League squad, in favour of Lassana Diarra. With Florentino Perez set to return as Madrid president, the future of several players, and particularly the Dutch contingent, has come under scrutiny. All of which means that Huntelaar’s future at the club remains unclear, something which could potentially pave the way for a move to Old Trafford.
smh, they could have got him time ago for cheaper.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to test Arsenal’s resolve by offering €45 million for skipper Cesc Fabregas.A report in the Sunday Mirror claims that the newly-crowned European champions have made the young Gunner their top transfer target this summer and are hoping to lure him back to the Camp Nou.Of course, the player has long been linked with a return to Spain, and Barcelona in particular, having spent much of his youth with the Catalan side. However, Fabregas has always publicly insisted he is happy at the Emirates and has no desire to leave.Yet the Gunner's latest comments, in an interview last week, may just encourage Barcelona.Speaking to ONA FM, the midfielder admitted he was a little jealous of the way Barcelona play and insisted that anyone would want to play for the club.Arsenal would would be reluctant to allow their captain to leave, although some might claim that they have proved, this season, that they can cope without the youngster. An injury picked up against Liverpool in December saw Fabregas sidelined until April.Yet, during that spell the Gunners went on a terrific run that saw them regain fourth spot in the Premier League, as well as making it to the Champions League semi-finals.
Michael Owen could be set for a shock return to Anfield, according to a report in the Sunday People. The British tabloid claims that senior Liverpool players have urged manager Rafael Benitez to sign the Newcastle United striker who is out of contract at St James’ Park. The players reportedly believe that Owen is worth a gamble, particularly as he is available on a free transfer, and that he would be warmly welcomed back to the club by the fans.Owen spent eight years on Merseyside, winning an FA Cup, two League Cups and the UEFA Cup before moving to Real Madrid in 2004.However, since returning to England with Newcastle, he has been plagued by injury and has struggled for his best form this season as the Magpies dropped out of the Premier League. The striker looks certain to walk away from Tyneside this summer and make an instant return to the top-flight, with both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur both linked with the player.Whilst Owen would no doubt welcome a return to Anfield, Benitez has previously insisted he is not interested in signing the Newcastle man. However, the Sunday People insists that Owen could still return to Liverpool with the players seeing him as a perfect back up for striker Fernando Torres.
Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen has admitted that he expects to leave the club and has stated that England is his most likely destination. The Icelandic international has been tipped to depart the Camp Nou this summer and, speaking to the Sunday Mirror, he revealed that a number of Premier League clubs had expressed an interest in signing him.“Without blowing my own trumpet, I think returning to England is probably inevitable,” he said.“There is a lot of interest from the Premier League. I had a great time in England and I know the game inside out. I'm well known in England and enjoyed great success there.”Gudjohnsen spent eight years in England with Bolton Wanderers and Chelsea, before moving to Barcelona and he admitted it would be easy for him to return.“People know my experience, know I will adapt easy to the football,” he explained.“Of course, it would be very easy to move back to England. I'll take the summer to look at the bigger picture and in the end my decision will be based on football reasons, nothing else.”The forward is set for talks with Barcelona next week and he didn’t rule out staying with the Catalan side for one more season.“To be part of a club like Barcelona is a privilege,” said the former Chelsea man.“And who knows, I might enjoy it for one more year.“It's difficult to leave a club like Barcelona. My young boys are playing for the Barcelona academy.”Yet the forward admitted that any decision he did make would be based purely on footballing reasons.“My focus stays on the football, though, and it has to be about football,” he added.“I still have ambition. I still have a lot of football in me. If the manager tells me next season I will get even less opportunities then I will look for another option".

plans? link?
RANDY Lerner has reassured Aston Villa fans that he has no intentions of relocating Villa Park despite revelling in the ‘sold out’ signs going up with increasing regularity.Lerner plans to increase the capacity of the famous old ground to 50,000 and has hinted that work to revamp the North Stand could begin within 18 months.Manchester City and Arsenal have recently followed the trend of upping sticks to play at bigger state-of-the-art stadiums with Liverpool also plotting to relocate. But Lerner loves Villa Park in its present position and insists he could never envisage a time when the club could move from their home of the past 112 years.Asked if Villa Park should always remain at its Witton Lane site, the claret-and-blue traditionalist replied: “Yes, I am a staunch believer in that.“Is the capacity big enough? I hope not. I want demand to exceed supply. If that happens then you have a very attractive formula to grow. That’s my goal.“We are thinking about expanding capacity in the North Stand. I’m not sure that 50,000 is a magical number because, think of the Holte End, it’s powerful and loud as a device for support.“It’s authentic in terms of experiencing football. You may elect to build a stand more like that in place of additional boxes. That could change the overall capacity. It’s a balancing act, so I’m tentative.“Internally, we discuss bumping up to 50,000, but what if that’s not enough. The question is whether the club is increasingly drawing capacity crowds. That would be the single best problem.”Lerner is an admirer of the atmosphere at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park and hopes Villa’s expansion plans will create a similar arena. The 47-year-old billionaire is keen to revive the claret-and-blue tradition of playing in front of capacity crowds at home.“When there were no seats, it was 75,000-80,000 at Villa Park, so the tradition is to pack them in,” said Lerner. “But the format’s changed. We are very conscious that this is a traditional stadium that can be grown.“I don’t know any example better than St James’ Park which pulled it off. It’s unbelievably beautiful, I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t agree with that. They did it. They got 50,000 people doing it.”Lerner is cautiously optimistic about his grand plans to further redevelop Villa Park by overhauling the visibly out-dated North Stand area of the ground.Under his stewardship, the Holte pub has been restored to its former glory and he has funded some stunning conference facilities in the Trinity Road stand. But he admits there are plenty of hurdles to overcome to bring the stadium up to his standards without inconveniencing supporters too much.Asked when the North Stand revamp could take place, Lerner replied: “Hopefully in the next year, or year and a half.“There are issues we haven’t dealt with like how do you do it from a practical perspective, which includes relocation, interruption, dislocation. There’s a lot of factors going into it. We must have a plan, otherwise we’ll face real hurdles.”Lerner is a fan of the Holte End, but insists the new-look North Stand will not be a replica of Villa’s iconic former terrace.“No, that’s not the idea,” he added. “The Holte is very successful, but take from that what you will. The Holte was the biggest terrace of its kind when it was built. It was an ambitious proposition from day one.
Ellis has planning permission from about 8 years ago to 52k (which has expired) but I'd imagine the capacity will be the same with the new plans.North Stand is getting completely knocked down, built back up and have the corners filled in with the Doug Ellis and Trinity.Museum and Hotel will be built into the back of the North stand too.Rumours North Stand will be renamed the Paul McGrath stand as well and hopefully we rename Doug Ellis stand back to Witton Lane.

if this is true its long over due if we can get somewhere around 65 mill and Hunterlaar for ronaldo i'd be happy (Rooney and Hunterlaar up front could be interesting) if the De Rossi thing is true we should deffo go in for him and that would hopefully leave some money for Ribery or another direct running wingercash in on Nani aswell anyone offering more than 10 mill will get their hands bitten off.we need effective options and fast,I rate Park's workrate and commitment and haven't got a bad word to say about the guy but if he's finding his way int he United 1st 11 on a regz theres somthing wrong with the quality of our wide positions hopefully Tosic comes on as well and i'm looking forward to seeing a lot of Ljajic in the u21's this summer, but i reckon we need 4 top quality wingers.God Bless Randy Learner, the guy is making a mockery of this football ownership thing everyone should take note.

Not a big fan of the Hunter at all tbh.De Rossi would be an awesome signing though, but he won't be short of options.
I firmly believe Hunterlaar would score more league goals than our present strikers(i'm not including Ronaldo in this) and that can not be a bad thing, Bring on De Rossi him and Carrick in the midfield with Hargreaves as the water carrierRooney at wide on the left Hopefully Ribery (fingers, toes arms and legs crossed) on the rightthat would be a better 1st 11 than we currently have and guess what no Ronaldo (wow there is life without him who would've thought it)

FULHAM LOOK AT GIGNACFULHAM are considering a move for Andre-Pierre Gignac as they plan for Europe next season.Striker Gignac, 23, hit 24 goals for Toulouse this season, and picked up his first cap for France. He is desperate to push for a place at the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 – and sees a move to the Premier League as a great chance to prove he can play at the top level.
make it happen Roy!
FULHAM plan a £5million bid for Dieumerci Mbokani. The DR Congo striker, whose first name means 'Thanks to God', has been a smash hit with Belgian side Standard Liege - banging in 31 goals in 61 games.Mbokani, 23, has also found the net eight times in 10 appearances for his national side. The Cottagers believe the pacy 6ft 1in marksman could make a big impact in the Premier League.
hopefully zamora is released on a free.

Insurance giants Aon have been lined up as Manchester United's new shirt sponsors in a deal that will see the Premier League champions bank £20m-ayear.And the company name could be emblazoned on the famous red kit as early as next season - if current sponsors AIG are forced by the American government to pull the plug early on their four-year agreement with the club.Aon, who also specialise in risk management, have been in talks with United since it was announced that AIG would not be extending their agreement with the club when it expires at the end of next season.

No doubt he would, but we'd have to change the way we play to accomodate him and I'm not keen on that.Would love us to sign a striker in the Torres/Drogba mold.

To me centre mid should be United's priority.Top 4 sides in Europe are probably Barca, United, Chelsea and Liverpool I reckon. United's midfield is nowhere near the levels of those 3.De Rossi and Hargreaves would go some way to bridging that imo

Some guy that says he is a ITKI'm not going to reveal my source. He is a personal friend of more than one of the Liverpool first team players. He says Liverpool will definitely sign Michael Owen this summer. If he is wrong then I will never use him as a source again. Even when he cries wolf. You can close the thread if you want, but when the news is made official then don't forget to attach the next thread to this. Details of contract: Wages will be based on his appearances.

Last week before the hype, someone said Barry & Tevez will be moving to City. Other day saw a paper linking them to Barry :lol:Also said Liverpool will probs have to sell to buy first and the scum might be put off by the fee. Said Spurs are the only people that turn his head as his family are all yiddos. However, If Alonso does leave, surely it means Barry is going to them? But their owner said he's not going anywhere. We'll have to wait a see!
