The football club launched the Asian Star Campaign last month and will be holding open trials at their Stoke D'Abernon training ground, just outside Cobham, for youngsters from Asian backgrounds during the May Bank Holiday. The most gifted players will be offered a three-day residential trial at the club’s world class academy. Anelka, who is the club’s anti-discrimination ambassador, said he hoped the initiative would help attract more British Asian youngsters to the game. He said: “I think it’s important because on the pitch you should see all the countries and colours of the world.” The striker, who is a French Muslim, also said that race and religion should be no barrier to participation in football. “Religion is outside of football,” he said. “You do what you want to do off the pitch, but on the pitch everybody is the same and we all have the same desire to play football and enjoy the game.” This is the first time a professional club has attempted to address the under-representation of Asian players within the game, according to Anelka, and he said he hoped to see an increase in participation at all levels of the game as a result. He said: "Football is famous in Asia and all over the world, so I can’t tell you why these youngsters are not involved. "They try to be involved and this is the best way to make things happen." The trials will take place from Saturday, May 2 until Monday, May 4 and are open to players in the under 12,13 and 14 age groups in London and the south-east with an Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi background. The winners from each age group will be offered an initial three-day trial at the academy and any player meeting the required standards will be offered the chance to join the Chelsea youth system.

tbh for whatever reason there are like none of them in the game
we all know the reason why its only black boys who make it in this country.

anyone that plays power league, 7 a side etc... in east will know theres some good asian footballers who could of defo made it....where i used to play monday nights there was 2 ex pros(top flight) and they were not the best on the pitch.

Good debating point. Well offensively you could say there hasnt been a player as good as/Better than John Barnes. (Ian Wright?/Andy Cole)

Of course there are good asian ballersBut what I saying is black people are better in general
