This used sh*t makes no sense though. Why not just buy it brand new then? Why would you buy it second hand knowing you have to pay another activation fee? Buy brand new pay once.

They don't want people trading in their old games.

They don't want people buying used copies therefore not making any new sales

MS pretty much want to fuck up the gaming businesses trading industry.   It doesn't make MS no money.   If you want a game, go buy it or wait till a NEW copy gets cheaper.   2nd hand games are out of the window now.

Pretty cuntish move but still not official.  I know MS will put a spin on it and shows why it's a positive thing to do.

Revs hasn't your team got any inside info?

Trading games used to be good during the SNES, Megadrive and N64 cartridge days when you didn't have to worry about scratches and you could trade 2/3 old games for the price of a brand new game.

These days if you tried to trade in 10 old games you'd be lucky if you get more than £25 for them.

The way Microsoft are moving I think I might just get a PS4.

Nah I get that. It's obvious. The gaming industry does not want to be caught slipping like the film and music industry did. To be honest I personally don't care about used games. I think I have bought only one in my life and traded in only a couple too. I can understand for many this will hurt their gaming experience if this turns out to be true.

I don't know anything new. I just make games lol.

Also I can't see Sony keeping things the exact same as before. Surely they will try to increase their revenue some how? They just don't have the capital as a company. If the pricing of their console follows history they will be selling at a loss and trying to make money from software sales. I wonder how much of this positive Sony talk will actually translate into sales in the long run? Is it a case of the vocal minority? I do reckon if nothing changes that initially Sony will have more sales due to early adopters being mostly core gamers.

So hard to call.

Granted I rarely even game any more. Used games I think are important. There isn't many games I will go out and spend full wack on now, I like the idea of bagging Assassins Creed Brotherhood or something online for a few quid a while after it came out. £40 to clock a games story mode in a few days and never pick it up again doesn't cut it for me. I think companies are going to have to pretty much concentrate a lot on multiplayer modes in games from here on as they are the only ones worth the cash. FIFA, COD, BF etc that you will bang out all year round. You gotta give people a reason to wanna keep hold of their games.

I'm pretty much surprised by how much hate Microsoft have been getting after this launch regardless. Usually it's Fans on both sides getting their 2 pence in but 90% of what I have been seeing is everyone saying they are getting a PS4 this time and fucking off Microsoft.

You got a good point about replay value. Lately there have been quite a few single player games that have reviewed pretty well and have just not sold or not to the inflated expectations. Obviously there are a few exceptions with the big names but even then the sales of popular mobile games have fucked up the perception of expected profit in my opinion.

Yea games like GTA and Metal Gear Solid will always sell big...... Can appreciate the effort that has gone into them and the cinematic experience, the type of games you ain't waiting 10 months for whilst everyone you know has already been banging on about how good it was.

Games like Assassins Creed which I can say I am a pretty big fan of, but I just don't feel compelled to part with the money for them. They can be pretty repetitive and I'd rather cop those second hand. Maybe companies should start having different price tags on their games to represent the title. Lets face it some sell you absolute shite for the same price as the AAA titles when they probably haven't even put in the same budget or effort to making them.

PS4 & XBone Specs. This seems to be indicating some PS4 bias, from what I read they should perform the same. Any tech guys really elaborate on if there is an actual advantage here to Sony?

i dont recall Sony going into detail about their memory

infact i distinctly recallin engadget the writter saying he know nothing of the GPU RAM or system RAM, other than "8GB"

Getting a Ps4... Xbox one can suck a d*ck and Microsoft can suck a d*ck.

Have the balls to charge for xbox live, now want me to pay excess fees for traded in games... Talk is cheap, but I would love for their console sales to tank as a result of this.

E3 will be the clincher for me, leaning towards the PS4 atm.

Xbox One's Live TV service will only be available in the United States at launch, with Microsoft 'anticipating global scale over time,' according to an official press release.

Xbox One Live TV, unveiled at Microsoft's recent Xbox One reveal event, will enable you to 'navigate and watch live TV from your cable, telco or satellite set-top box through your Xbox One.' The service is a big part of Microsoft's central message that the Xbox One will be an all-in-one games and entertainment device, so naturally the publisher is stressing its commitment to 'bringing live TV through various solutions to all the markets where Xbox One will be available.'

The service will not be supported out of the box; Xbox One Live TV will require a separate supported receiver device with HDMI output to work.

Check out the Xbox One Live TV demo below.

UK tv system is pretty locked down tbh

afaik in the us TVs have a cablecard ting where you can just get it from your provider and slide it into the tv, no decoder

uk that cant happen, you need to explicitly work with virgin or sky to get theirs, i imagine shit like bt vision and talk talk would be easier "youview"

and sky are cunts so i can put money on it never happening unless 8/9 figures are dropped or something

The Next Generation Kinect will be available for PC Next Year..........

Will be sick as a midi controller

one of the guys in year did this as a final year project

cool concept but pretty much no real world value

- well as he used it (controlling delay/reverb/other plugins) - but come to think of it it would be pretty great for cutoff automation on synths

Just not having a good time at the minute Microsoft are they.

Microsoft doesn't own the domain name "http://XboxOne.com " and is suing the guy who does

Though it may seem ridiculous that Microsoft would name its new console without already owning the domain name for it, there are a couple of mitigating factors here. One is that the guy who owns XboxOne.com registered the name almost two years ago. That's some good guessing!

Fusible reports that Microsoft has filed a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum over the domain name to thwart the lucky cybersquatter, whom records say is a resident of the U.K. and registered the name in December 2011. XboxOne.net also is covered in the same complaint, indicating it is owned by the same person, Fusible notes.

Domain registrations are public (indeed, Fusible sniffs out all of them for clues on upcoming games, movies and whatnot). Worse, to have entered into a legal dispute over ownership of a domain name for which no product or service currently existed, would have tipped off everyone what Microsoft was going to call its next console. So the company probably figured it just had to suck it up and battle this thing out after they announced the device. Microsoft seems to have done well in these disputes anyway.
