Paul Scholes has rejoined the playing staff at Manchester United for the remainder of the season with immediate effect, after approaching Sir Alex Ferguson to reverse his decision, made at the end of last season, to retire.

He has gone straight onto the bench for this afternoon’s FA Cup third round tie against Manchester City.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: "It’s fantastic that Paul has made this decision. It’s always sad to see great players end their careers, but especially so when they do it early.

"But he has kept himself in great shape and I always felt that he had another season in him. It’s terrific to have him back."

Paul Scholes added: "I’ve been pretty clear since I stopped playing that I miss it. I’m delighted the manager feels I can still make a contribution to the team and I’m looking forward to playing my part in trying to bring more success to this great club.”

he couldnt watch us go through it no more

we are not signing anybody, flecther is out, anderson is going to take 1 month to find form, cleverley is injured

pogba and ravel are never going to play for some strange reason ive accepted

that leaves carrick, gibson, giggs + (rooney, jones, park, twins who we would rather not see in there)

this is embarrassingly good news in context

going back for Scholes is understandable in the circumstances but in the short/long term it's horrible reflection on our squad

towards the end of his career Scholes form dipped considerably, wayward passes and game seemed to drift by him on a regular basis

we used to be the club that knew when to move on players at a certain age and find quality replacements, now we're stock piling them alongside average players

if i was Pogba and Rav i'd leave tbh - they only way they're playing is if EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE is injured and SAF has no other choice

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but were you not one of the people who were pissed/criticising Rooney for wanting out, and tbh his reason's were more prominent than the two young guns. And his concerns have only been exacerbated since,

Hoping Pogba goes out on loan this month tbh we give him the extra year, and he gets the Cleverly treatment through pre-season and next season..

nah that wasn't me, i've been complaining about same things Rooney pointed out

Pogba i doubt it'll happen for him, gut feeling

Rav has supposedly been given assurances that he's future remains at the club, well thats what the ITK are saying anyways
