rooney is a selfish mug

you reckon he would like to play with the likes of vdv and sniejder

hed hate it they would be taking up his positions all over the gaffe

He didnt seem to mind playing with Ronaldo

The squad wasn't structured according to his opinion then, he didn't like it.

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona is returning to Old Trafford for Paul Scholes' farewell game.

Cantona's return has been confirmed as part of Scholes' testimonial game on August 5, when the Frenchman will coach the legendary New York Cosmos side, currently bidding to gain admittance to Major League Soccer.

"I wish to congratulate Paul for such an incredible career at Manchester United and I am looking forward to returning to Old Trafford in my new role with the New York Cosmos," said Cantona, who recently celebrated his 45th birthday.

Following David Beckham's return for Gary Neville's testimonial last month, it marks another significant day for United, and Scholes in particular.

"This is going to be a big night for me and my family but one which I intend to enjoy and I will savour every moment," said Scholes.

"I have spent my whole footballing life at Manchester United, so this will be an emotional farewell.

"This club is special in many ways but the fans are the best and I have always appreciated their support throughout my career.

"I hope they enjoy the night, especially seeing the Boss and Eric battling it out in front of the dug outs."

hmmm

a nice ploy to get the fans through the gate after the sheer embaressment of a turnout for Gary Neville's testimonial and even out of the 42k that attended that game about 3/4 of them only came to see Beckham

lol thought it would haver been a sell out

Yh you would think that,

but tbh my brother predicted tickets wouldnt sell for it.

for a number of different reasons,

the reason being banded around by a load of fans for the poor turnout was apparently poor timing, as the CL final was on the following Saturday, this doesnt wash with me at all tbh for a number of different reasons, but as i say i wasn't suprise by the turnout or lack of

for the Scholes game tickets are selling fast but bare in mind the Stretford end upper and North Stand upper tiers haven't gone on sale yet so.....

interesting that the Charity sheild is 2 days after this though might see a fringe team

but the Cantona and Pele factor will get tickets sold,

not sure whether i'm going to this, Going to Old Trafford comes like visiting a terminally ill family member in Hospital, you walk in and just have feelings of sadness due to what they used to be like when they were healthy

An investigation has been launched into the sentencing of a United starlet who was spared jail after his second conviction in four months.

Ravel Morrison was warned in January that he would be locked up for a year if he was convicted of another offence before the end of 2011.

The warning came as he was given a 12-month referral order at Trafford Youth Court for witness intimidation.

But in May, Morrison, 18, escaped with just a fine at Salford magistrates’ court after admitting criminal damage following a bust-up with his girlfriend. Now the sentence is being reviewed after the family of the victim in the first case complained to Tameside youth offending team – which has been handling Morrison’s referral order – and threatened to apply for a judicial review.

It is understood Salford magistrates are considering bringing Morrison back before the court to face new sentencing.

The M.E.N. has been shown a copy of a letter sent to the family by Jim Taylor, the boss of Tameside’s youth offending team.

He explains that the matter is being investigated and the authority has written to Salford magistrates. And he reveals that by fining Morrison, the court caused the referral order to be automatically cancelled.

He wrote: “It would appear from subsequent investigation that the act of imposing a fine has the effect of automatically revoking the referral order, something that the sentencing court would appear to have overlooked. As a result of this I have contacted Salford magistrates' court and they are looking into the matter. One possibility is that they can re-open the criminal damage case and re-sentence also taking into account the offence for which Ravel received the referral order.”

District judge Jonathan Feinstein fined Morrison £600 and ordered him to pay £100 costs when he pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Salford magistrates on May 25. He had been accused of throwing his girlfriend’s £150 mobile phone out of a window after a row.

He told the M.E.N: “It is not appropriate for me to comment and the case will be reviewed in court.” A Tameside council spokesman said: “The decision to revoke the referral order was not taken by Tameside council, it was taken by Salford magistrates court. As a resutt of this, the council has written to the court expressing its concern that the decision to revoke the order will cause distress for the family of the victim.

“The council is waiting to hear the outcome of the court’s decision regarding this case.”

Morrison has been tipped as one of United’s brightest hopes for the next decade. He scored two goals to help his team win the FA Youth Cup last month.

Ravel Morrison is keen to follow in the footsteps of Cesc Fabregas after the young midfielder has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Wythenshawe-born England Under-17 international has become the target of Arsene Wenger following a array of excellence displays at reserve and youth level.

Morrison, Who can play anywhere along the midfield may not be the big transfer many Gunners fans crave, the youngster has every intention to write his own name into the club's folklore.

"My dad brought me up as an Arsenal fan and I have been going since I was young. I even went to a few games last season. It is all a bit surreal being linked with Arsenal but we'll see what happens in the coming months," Morrison told The Guardian.

"I have always been a big fan of Cesc Fabregas, He is someone I look up to as a great player and a great leader.

"He is a player I can learn a lot from and I will be looking to follow in his footsteps."

this is where the social pariah got his quotes from

Carl Jenkinson hopes to become Arsenal’s new Tony Adams after the young defender completed a dream move to his boyhood club.

The Harlow-born Finland Under-19 international became Arsene Wenger’s first summer signing following a £1million move from Charlton.

Jenkinson, who qualifies for dual nationality through his mother, can play anywhere along the backline and although he may not be the big transfer many Gunners fans crave, the youngster has every intention to write his own name into the club’s folklore.

“My dad brought me up as an Arsenal fan and I have been going since I was young. I even went to a few games last season. It is all a bit surreal, but it is a brilliant feeling to be here and I am really excited by it,” Jenkinson told Arsenal Player.

“I was always a big fan of Tony Adams and I am reading his book at the moment. He was always someone I looked at as a great player and a great leader.

“He is a player I can learn a lot from and I will be looking to follow in his footsteps.”

Wenger’s track record of allowing young talent a taste of first-team action was another reason Jenkinson did not hesitate to join Arsenal.

“It is up to me to prove myself, but I know if I can, I will be given a chance,” he said.

“I owe Charlton a lot, with the way they have developed me as a player.

“I have still got a lot to learn, and now I am at the best place to do that.

“The plan now is for me to go away with the first team in pre-season and I am looking forward to it.
