Tottenham aim to extend their superb record in the competition against Manchester United when the two sides meet at Wembley in Sunday's Carling Cup final.Spurs, bidding to become the first team since Nottingham Forest in 1990 to retain the trophy, have won five of their previous six League Cup meetings with United.Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils are unbeaten against the North Londoners since May, 2001, and both sides are unlikely to be at full strength for the contest.Ferguson has pledged to stick by the players who have got him this far in the competition with Darron Gibson promised a start and Nani surely set to join him in midfield as he has played every minute of the run so far. Anderson came through 45 minutes of a reserve outing on Thursday while Ben Foster is tipped to keep goal. Jonny Evans is desperate to play and has been receiving pain-killing injections but should be fit. There is a suspicion that Ferguson will bring in a couple of big guns, even if they lay in waiting on the bench, but Rafael da Silva is out which could present a dream chance for his twin Fabio. Danny Welbeck was expected to be on the bench but Ferguson reckons he will be selected.Didier Zokora has started every game for Spurs on their road to Wembley and Roman Pavlyuchenko has six goals in the competition so far, the same amount as Carlos Tevez.Redknapp is sweating over the fitness of Jamie O'Hara, who has a hip problem, and David Bentley has his fingers crossed over being involved after being left out of the Uefa Cup clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.Heurelho Gomes starts in goal but Carlo Cudicini, Pascal Chimbonda, Robbie Keane, Wilson Palacios and Fraizer Campbell are ineligible. Jonathan Woodgate will be fit despite picking up a head injury after scoring the winner at Hull City on Monday. Jermain Defoe is still out injured and Pavlyuchenko requires a fitness test so Darren Bent stands by if only one striker features.Picking the teams is something of a hiding to nothing but here is our stab, updated after Ferguson's press conference!:Man United: Foster; Neville, O'Shea, Vidic, Evans; Nani, Gibson, Fletcher, Carrick or Anderson; Tevez, Welbeck. Tottenham: Gomes; Corluka, Assou-Ekotto, King, Woodgate; Lennon, Zokora, Jenas, Bentley or Bale; Modric; Pavlyuchenko.
