I now feel inclined to take him to dinner next week, but I think we've gone through all conversation between us, there's nothing more to say. In the past there's always been a sort of arrangement or halves, hence why I was taken aback. It wasn't exactly a cheap meal either. (Oh and on that point, the food was f*ck*ng amazing). When you converse with your friends you don't ask them how many brothers and sisters they have do you? You talk about stuff that's happened to you, stuff you've done, films you watched, things you read etc. When you relax a bit it might be better.He's not going to let you pay for dinner next time either. He might let you go halves but he won't let you pay for the whole thing so just accept that. I can't tell that from the fact he didn't let you put any in this time (same way I wouldn't have). It's not too difficult. But I feel like I don't know this guy at all. He told me he wanted to set up his own company here in Shanghai, and I felt no urge to ask what company or how. I could have sworn he felt the same way I did throughout the meal, i.e. that this hit a dead end, but he wants to go for dinner again on Friday. I'm probably over-thinking every aspect of this situation, which I guess is where the need to relax comes into, so I'll see how Friday goes.
