do you mixed race people get racism from the daemon side of the family?

My Grandad hated the fact his son was with a black woman, as far as he was concerned he was messing up the bloodline. The rest of the family seem ok but im not so comfortable there, i don't believe me and my Brother were ever fully accepted.

Maybe it's an Irish thing lol... My situation is the exact same scenario. Except I didn't get to meet his side of the fam.

My nan got disowned by her family for having kids with a black guy.

Never met any of my white fam other than like one cousin.

I think my dad's always had the impression that my (white) granddad was slyly disrespectful and didn't involve himself in out family as much 'cause he (my dad) was black. I just treated it as general lack of involvement and don't care much.

My mum's generally as educated on black culture and issues in the black community as most educated and socially aware black people are.

I would say though, being mixed race generally gives you less to identify with, there is less acceptance on both sides. That may lead to some small hidden resentment for people.

At the same time you can choose to identify yourself more with one than another, while you still can lay claim to the other race which somehow licences you to be disrespectful about it.

People won't understand this though, to quick to judge instead of seeing things from that persons perspective. Things like being abandoned by one half can make you hate yourself and your colour. As stupid as it may sound, it's just like having certain daddy issues if you've never grown up with a father etc.

But this forum is so backwards that they'd rather mock people or neg them so they feel better.

It's not backwards, it's just filled with equally insecure people.

In Colombia people are always looking for ways to say they're of European/White descent, talking about their great great great granddad etc...

In the UK people seek to explain how they're great great great granddad had a ting with some black ting once and that somehow makes them a 32th black.

Crazy world we live in.
