Turkish food ya na, some North London paupers' idea of a classy night out.

(joke)

Turkish restaurants in north London >>>>

Turkish food in general >

They keep feeding you till you cant move no more. And if you find the right spot....your laughing.

Funny thing is, the Turkish food here is so much better than the Turkish food I had in Turkey. some backwards logic but its so true, I had to search far and wide to find an authentic spot out of all the touristy areas

Tbh all Turkish food taste the same in restaurants. I rate it though, but I can't tell one better than another.

I kinda understand what your saying, but that only means you aint been to a proper good one where you can make an obvious differentiation

End up going to a new spot in crouch end http://sumakrestaurants.co.uk/

Highly recommend

I'm only joking. I was a Kervan regular for many a year.

Now I am more on the Lebanese/General Middle Eastern (living in West London) but it's all similar.

recommend any decent ones ?

Abu Zaad next to Shepherd's Bush Market is nice.

Fez Mangal in Ladbroke Grove is also nice.

Couple on Golborne Road as well.

Sushi Samba and Duck and Waffle at the Heron Tower is a good choice, i prefer D&W to sushi samba. both are £££ on avg.

rang up Dishoom for a Thursday night booking, they say all 3 are fully booked out and that apparently happens a month in advance

didn't know this place was so popular, last time we just phoned same day (though that was some years back)

Okay I think my comment was an overreaction.

But I thought that it could be better.

Seems like the kind of place where you turn up, your table isn't ready, so you get leathered at the bar with your Mrs and then enjoy the food more.

But like the sides are a bit meh.

Duck and waffle itself is a nice novelty but the supporting cast needs to complement the headline act well.

Anybody been VQ Bloomsbury?

Found this place randomly about a month ago. It's a 24 hour diner but it's actually good quality food, decent drink selection, great atmosphere, and cosy too. It's fucking great for what it is. Never rushed out, really chilled. I'd recommend it if you're in the Holborn area (I believe they have one in Chelsea too) and looking for a decent scran.

I work over on Fleet St so when the girl I'm seeing meets me from work we end up going here more often than not now because you know exactly what you're getting, and in peace.
