swear he does own beats

Beats Electronics, LLC is a producer of audio products and equipment headquartered in Santa Monica, California. The company was founded by hip-hop/rap artist and entrepreneur Andre "Dr. Dre" Young and Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine, and primarily produces products under the brand Beats by Dr. Dre.

Look...

Someone would have come to Jimmy about spin off from the music business as selling music per say is a dwlindling business.

He went to Dre, knowing regardless of how strong the product is, its needs a face. Who better than a multi-platinum rapper an producer who says you will hear everything clean.

So let say Jimmy is fair (whic he ain't) and says 50/50.

Dre now owns 50% and thats if this wasn't someone else idea to start that needs there %, which there is as someone called Luke Wood is listed.

They now need someone to make them, they could do it, but then they have to pay for maufacturing, staff etc... So they went to Monster or Monster was the ones that came to them, I dunno.

Monster probably didnt get a % of the company, but definitely the profits.

Then they sold 51% of the company to HTC. So instantly Dre owns less than 25% at best, yet everybody thinks he owns the company as most people call them DRE Beats Headphones...

Who is the real businessman here? Yes Dre got paid and on this venture he was involved in it from the beginning but it ain't his company, never was, he was just a face, but he was the most important face, yet he didnt take the most money out of the situation. We all know Jimmy took more, and Dre did more than Jimmy. Ain't nobody buying no Beats by Jimmy Iovine headphones...

Why do you think Jimmy doesn't keep 50 as close to him as Dre? I'd suspect its cos he knows he can't do 50 like that.

Why did 50 break away from them and never endorse Beats and then go and do SMS...

Compare 50's headphone set up...

Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent created SMS Audio, which stands for “Studio Mastered Sound,”in late 2011. Jackson started looking for a company he could acquire and rebrand as his own. SMS acquired KonoAudio in August, 2011 for an undisclosed amount. Its founder Brian Nohe became the President of SMS Audio. Nohe was a former Gillette executive that founded KonoAudio in 2007 due to his personal interest in music and high-end audio equipment.Jackson and Brian Nohe worked together on designing three types of high-end headphones that were released in late 2011 and early 2012. In June 2012 SMS headphones were marketed through QVC infomercials and in December of that Jackson announced the Feeding America initiative would serve 250 meals to hungry Americans for each headphone that is sold domestically from the official SMS Audio website.

Now SMS will never make Beats money, but relative success could still mean 50 might make Dre money, and he might even make another stupid Vitamin Water flip that will sh*t on Dre.

This is the kind of setup I was alluding to earlier. Everyone assumes these man are at the top of the chain but they are all puppets/middlemen in someone else's game. can't hate on the figures they're making off it though. Not at all.

I didn't know diddy was on a 50/50 prof share thing on ciroc though. Will research that when I get in because I still don't even fully believe that.

Even if he gets 50/50, it must be cos he doesn't get paid on the marketing side and no doubt the man gets paid his share dividends before profits are split. Diddy has no shares in the company.

There marketing deal must has some point of expiry, which means basically Diddy would have built up the company and when they walk way or sell he'll get nothing after raising the brand's profile.

Plus Ciroc is why I said Diddy is a cheque writer, he brought attention to Ciroc but it was the other rappers we actually like that made it hot IMO.

Not even, its simple business deals.

You'd have to be a mug or stupid to agree to some of thses deals in the way the artists make you think they are.

There taking zero risk bar there face and branding, so how they owning or making the most money of a company they didnt buy into or found?

It's like Justin Timberlake claiming to own McDonalds or having it listed in his Forbes.

i think its great that we have people on ViP2 who helped finalise the deals to shed a little light on the financial status of rappers

aint even shedding light, what TF has said is common sense and the info is a google away

a marketing deal is not the same as the real gold dust which are shares

LMFAO at trying to downplay 50's success as a businessman, he isn't relevant as an artist but he knows how to make money.

Selling 3.8 million pairs of sneakers and getting paid $80 million is flopping?

Having a New York best seller is flopping?

Developing a product with a company aimed at a demographic you appeal to is getting rich by accident?

Bear in mind he managed to amass $100 million in less than 5 year and he hasn't even been in the game 10 yet, the only man who can chat to him have been in it nearly 20 years.

for real only jay, diddy and master p(or stunnaman) have got more/had more money and they are all veterans in the game

really think kanye west will be touching fiddys bread soon. he will make money for the next 10 years but they are both heavy weight tycoons

lil wayne is caked tho dont think you lot understand i seen people say he's not that rich a few pages back

Money killed 50's career.

Like 50 still wants to rap about how he came up and thats cool, IF he made it sound hot, but he doesn't.

Nobody wants to hear a stupidly rich rapper rap about the hood and drug hustling with no actual hunger in his voice for those things.

Nobody believes Rick Ross, but his music is, or at least was hot, enjoyable and something masses could believe in.

Why 50 Cent and Peter Thiel Invested in the Same Company

image15-300x148.png

If you work with a computer, there’s a ninety percent (90%) chance that you’re suffering from computer eye strain which accounts for more than $8 billion in lost productivity according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Strange, since no one seems to be talking about this threat much less understand how to remedy it. And it also makes you wonder how much worse it will become because of the explosion of new mobile devices, and, more importantly, why companies tend to be nearsighted in preparing its workforce.

That might be why an unlikely pair of investors (amongst a few others) decided to invest in Gunnar, a Carlsbad, California company that believes it can help 70-75% of those eye strain sufferers by wearing its stylish, but protective computer eye glasses. “50 Cent is a brilliant businessman and he understands people,” said Jennifer Michelsen, Gunnar’s CEO “and Peter Thiel is Mr. Silicon Valley and having him part of Gunnar has been incredibly helpful for opening doors to tell our story.” Both seem to recognize the danger and both spot the opportunity.

It seems like every day I run across yet another group of people that are suffering as I am from computer eye strain. Les Kollegian, CEO of the respected web design firm JacobTyler, tells me, he is seeing the same thing wherever he goes. The experts tell me it’s the combination of staring at a fixed screen at a fixed distance for an extended period of time that causes the eyes to strain which causes vision degradation. As a result, in just a few short years, my 20/20 vision has deteriorated to something far worse.

So when I heard about Gunnar, I wanted to drop in on them to see if they are indeed our saving grace. But first I decided to try their glasses out for myself in a sort of test to see if they were effective for me. To do so required an experiment – which for me involved staring at an eye chart 20 feet away and across the room. I recorded the smallest line that I could see clearly, then started to wear the Gunnar glasses for 6 weeks straight whenever I was in front of a computer. After the six week experiment was over, I conducted the same eye chart test and recorded the results. I’ll share them at the end of this article.

During the six week trial, I managed to visit Gunnar to meet with one of their experts. “The problem with eye strain is a result of reduced blink rates, near point stress syndrome, the quality of the light, and glare,” Gunnar’s CTO, Joe Croft told me when discussing how Gunnar solves the problem, “we create a lens that identifies and solves for each one of those issues one by one.”

So in simple terms, Gunnar is turning the environment and the light that’s coming from it into something that’s much more compatible with our eyes. And therein lies the genius of the technology. No need to spend an enormous amount of money replacing fluorescent lights and energy efficient monitors (it turns out are exceedingly bad for the eyes) just wear Gunnar’s glasses to provide an optimal experience for the eyes.

Best of all, according to Michelsen, “We’re covered by all major vision insurance companies for prescription glasses. We also work with a lot of companies where computer glasses are already built into their benefits package.” It’s probably worth looking into yours.

This is a company that’s focused on the future. Eye strain will only get worse, and if we don’t start preparing for it we’re going to have a generation of workers with severe eye problems.

P.S. Using a Snellen eye chart at a distance of 20 feet, after wearing Gunnar Glasses for 6 weeks my vision improved from 20/40 to 20/30.
