Rumours of Sony putting DRM on used games.

Knew it.

That would be funny, guys will be lost.

Is it true this is down to all the game developers?  I would imagine used games are killing them in sales

As a games machine I'm leaning to the ps4 but when I actually look at what I do I use my 360 as a gaming and tv system equally. Also half my friends list is populated with people watching Lovefilm, Sky etc rather just pure games. I 'm still far from decided. Got to wait until E3.

same here im undecided too

since i changed to xbox, i used it a lot for sky go and netflix..i see why they r pushing for more of a all round  entertainment system

plus online has been so smooth

Microsoft’s Xbox One console will be region-locked, a company spokesperson has reportedly confirmed

“Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale,” said the Microsoft representative. “We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One.”

It’s a muddy statement made murkier by the fact that region-locking is currently almost non-existent on PS3, a console that answers to the same country-specific regulatory guidelines.

Microsoft has been approached for further comment since, but has left the topic unclarified.

"Regarding region blocking, Microsoft don't have anything further to announce at this stage. We'll have more to share later," a Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon.

Some people sell their used games in order to fund buying a new one. Surely that would have a negative effect on sales of new games still if they bring this new rule in.

Them people buying those used games would have bought the new version though..

It cancels itself out

If Sony go through it as well, MS will be laughing again

Shouldnt it be like music and film? You dont own it but own the medium and you can do what you want with it without altering it

Why are they tryna muscle in? Its my disc ill do what I want

in my opinion the comparison between games and movies/music is a hazy one.

in no major retailer (to my knowledge) do you ever get second hand films and music being sold along side the brand new product. Nor do you get a retailer actively trying to push the second hand product over the new one.
