Barcelona defender Marc Bartra believes that if team-mate Xavi Hernandez signs for MLS outfit New York City "a huge hole will be left in the dressing room" at the Catalan club. The 34-year-old veteran midfielder is reported to be on the verge of calling time on his 16-year career with Barca to join up with former international and club team-mate David Villa at the newly formed franchise, which is owned by Premier League champions Manchester City.

 Sigh

Villa, Xavi, Lamps

...smh

How we doomed?

We replaced Borini and got a 6 million profit.

Doomed in the sense of not being able to replace Suarez. He took your team to another level

So far have signed Lambert and Remy looks next. Huge downgrades

Tottenham Mk II

U should stop talking about football tbh

So irrational

Irrational how?

Replace Bale with Suarez and Paulinho, Chadli and Soldado with Can, Lambert, Markovic.

Replacing a match winner with deadweight.

Lazy comparison.

Bale was bailing Tottenham out left right and centre with last minute winners that masked their systematic deficiencies, that certainly wasn't the case with us.

It's also worth mentioning that Spurs were relying on several new players from foreign leagues to settle and hit the ground running to account for what they lost in Bale, again that isn't the case with us.

We've lost the highest scoring forward in the league and didn't have to look outside our squad to find the next highest scoring one. In Lambert and Lallana we've signed two players that are acclimatised to the Prem already as opposed to some Argentine kid that doesn't want to be here.

There are a lot of differences between our situation and the one Spurs were in but people struggle to look beyond us both selling a top player for a lot of money.

this tottenham shit is mad annoying as well because it highlights such a basic misunderstanding of sports dynamics

great player on a great team, great player on a good team, great player on a shit team

pulling off a "one man show" is possible anywhere but it does it really reflect on the quality of team mates no

i wouldnt say either spurs or liverpool without bale n suarez are great/shit but if you compare the two squads one is gonna look markedly worse than the other

common sense ffs

You're overcomplicating it in an attempt to set your behaviours apart.

You could have used different mineral water in your sprinklers for all we care but the similarity remains; that you are pissing your star money away, as did Tottenham.

Overcomplicating it? To think I was considering looking at it from a tactical viewpoint as well to give some real context.

You're getting context and over complication confused. I'll  remember that in your opinion taking into account the squad, the manager, the incoming players and the tactical approach/versatility of the manager are over complications when trying to predict how a team will cope without a player. Some MATCH Mag level insights you're dealing with.

As for pissing money away, we haven't even touched the Suarez money yet. We're still making our way through that CL gwap.
