Mayweather has grown on me a lot.

Was never much of a follower of boxing. First real glimpses of him were all his trash talking when he was due to fight Hatton, despised his attitude and obviously wanted the Manchester man to beat him.

Lot of respect for him now though for his record in the ring and he seems generally like a good guy outside of it.

I think the fact that McGregor is a KO artist who usually finishes his opponents quickly ups his popularity. The casual viewer can't appreciate a style like Floyd's.
