Thats the thing, this whole deal is an amazing coup by our board, whether it was Levy or Commoli who was behind this it has taken everybody by surprise.Very clever by us to put in a bid before the summer while most other teams are still concentrating on football. We are not.And the exact price we are signing him for is £15.8m.So unfortuantely Bent remains are record signing.

Just like; Berbatov, Ashley Young, Martin Petrov, Sully Muntari, Martin Laursen and Robbie Keane?With the exception of Berbatov every single one of them was more known in this country than Modric before they moved to their current clubs from other none big-4 teams, and all could play for them.We need to get away from this mentality.Maybe he liked the idea of what Spurs were building and thought it would be a better move for him?Or maybe he was flattered with how much Spurs wanted him.I'm pretty sure Chelsea held talks with him atleast twice over the last year or so.
