He can't play off the last shoulder centrally, he struggles off the shoulder out wide when he can see the whole picture and even then he still can't perfect the run to stay onside, centrally CB's just held the line and let him go.

Walcott as a 9 might have worked if he pressed back lines intensely with Alexis, cos once they knick the ball off you there your fucked.

Theo Walcott at his best is when teams open up centrally and he angles his runs and 1 or 2 touch finishes, and more time it's not even from a central body position which where he is prone to taking too many touches and thinking or the goalkeeper standing up and Theo gets it all wrong.

His most recent effective spell was when he was keep Giroud out by playing centrally. Infact he also showing some genuine abilty, holding up the ball, bringing people into play etc

For a player that can't take on a man it's a hard task to be put out wide. Also it's so easy for him to get isolated out there, and if he's isolated he is offering nothing else in return.

Out wide he's too far from goal and unless the option is there for one two's he usually has to turn back or slow down play and wait for help. For me the best theo is when we are moving the ball quickly and he's involved as little as possible until the final third.. Something which we don't do enough of imo, we sit around waiting for holes to appear in the opposition.
