Can't say I have an exact recollection of that season, what I do remember is Rooney starting the season off in that Everton game where we were given a beating by Everton, (De Gea was out best player) totally unfit. (His own fault) then he got injured was out for a while then came right back into the team.
Edit- got injured against Fulham, huge gash in his leg was out for a month, missed a number of games. Then came back in, yes he was benched for the Fulham game and Kagawa played with RVP.
Rooney also went on to create only two fewer goals than Mata (leagues top assist maker) with 10. Kagawa had 3
Rooney was top if the chances created table within the squad, Kagawa wasn't even in the top 5.
According to Wikipedia (yh I know) Kagawa only had 3 appearances in Europe that season.
Both of them played away in Madrid neither started the home game. Can't remember if Kagawa was out injured for that.
(I hate these Rooney discussions as I like to bring balance to a debate and on here that generally means stating the case for the defence, which is bad as I can't stand him.

The real disappointment is that we've taken a top #10 and he's been criticised for not adapting to a role out of position on the wing and a weaker brand of football all because we can't have 3HUNNA throwing his toys out of the pram.

The original plan was a double bid for Lewandowski and Kagawa that got rejected.

That would've been interesting. Still think Rooney would've been shoehorned in somewhere and Kagawa would've had to adapt.
