Distin, Dunne and Warnock are our targets.Distin and Warnock - great.Dunne would be decent enough as fourth choice.Everton seem to be in pole position for Distin though.Warnock looks like it'll be done in the next day or two.

Villa can confirm they are in discussions with Blackburn Rovers over the transfer of Stephen Warnock.Stay tuned to www.avfc.co.uk for more as we get it.

How is this, in any way a myth?/That Tosic goal against South Africa was colllllld.
haven't you heard some people have discovered this parrelel Universe where United sold Ronaldo for 80 million and re-invested all the money into the team and ticket prices have (just like pretty much every other club) have been frozen (due to the current financial climatebecause Manchester United have amazing owners an we dont have an amazing ammount of debt with interest payments adding to it that need to be paid.OHH its a wonderful life

I can't believe Robben's only 25.If he spends all season on the Bench it'll be a tradegy (of sorts)
Trust, when he is fully fit and playing he is too much.He was unplayable at one stage for Chelsea. The 2nd goal Tosic scored reminded me of Robben.

When's he on his game, by far the best out & out winger in the world...Hated playing against him whenever Arsenal played Chelsea.I remember the Carling Cup final in '07, 1st half, absolutely bossed that game, Robben came on in the 2nd half, terrorized us.../How is Higuain not even in the Argentina squad let alone starting for them? ____________________ >>> Maradona.

Marc Janko set for loan move to FulhamAccording to a report in the Daily Mail this morning, "Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is poised to sign Austria striker Marc Janko in a season-long loan deal. The 6ft 5ins striker was in the Red Bull Salzburg side that crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night and his club have reluctantly agreed to let him go with view to a permanent £6m deal next summer."Marc Janko had a sensational season in 2008/2009, scoring more goals than any other striker in Europe. The 26-year-old claimed an incredible 41 in 36 appearances and also chipped in with six assists. This season has been more of a struggle for the 6.5ft striker, Janko has scored just two goals in 10 appearances and failed to score in either game against Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League qualifying stages.Crucially, the two-footed striker speaks English which should aid his integration into Premier League football. Last season he was chosen as Austrian Player of the Year and has often publicly spoken of his desire to play in England. Blackburn and Celtic were heavily linked with a move for Janko during the January 2009 transfer window.Scouts in Austria describe Janko as a striker "with a good shot, who is strong and physical and also good in the air. Janko can score with both feet, has very good heading ability and is always in the right place at the right time."
Fulham's Dikgacoi gets UK permitBy Piers EdwardsBBC Sport, JohannesburgKagiso Dikgacoi in action against BrazilDikgacoi played all South Africa's games at the Confederations CupSouth Africa midfielder Kagiso Dikgacoi will join up with English Premier League side Fulham on Thursday after finally receiving his UK work permit. The 24-year-old midfielder will fly to London on Wednesday, having agreed a deal with Fulham earlier this month. The UK demands that players from outside the European Union represent a country in the world's top 70.South Africa have slipped from 70 to 72 in recent months, so the permit process took longer to complete."It's taken a long time to achieve", Dikgacoi's agent Mike Makaab told BBC Sport."He is very, very excited about joining the Premier League."The South African international trained with his former Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows to maintain his fitness.Dikgacoi represented the Durban club for four years, but now faces his greatest challenge, according to his agent."Fulham are an extremely competitive team, as they showed last year, and Kagiso is going to have to work extremely hard to show the technical staff he deserves to be there," Makaab said."He's done very well with his fitness during this period because he's trained with Arrows but he's also done a lot of work on his own."It will probably take him a short while to get back to a top level but we are quietly confident that he will do very well."Dikgacoi, who must depose either Danny Murphy or d*ckson Etuhu for a place in Fulham's starting line-up, played in every South Africa match during June's Confederations Cup.
Sylvain Distin is set to complete a £4million move to Everton which will spark a remarkable centre-half merry-go-round.Portsmouth defender Distin, 31, is the stopper that David Moyes wants to replace Manchester City’s £24m buy Joleon Lescott, as first revealed in Mirror Sport last Friday. However, he faces opposition from Sunderland boss Steve Bruce who has made a last ditch attempt to land the player with a matching £4m bid, but better personal terms. It leaves Philippe Senderos, Richard Dunne and Steven Taylor still hoping to complete moves before the transfer window shuts on September 1.Arsenal defender Senderos was on the brink of joining Everton a fortnight ago but the deal stalled at the last minute with Arsene Wenger demanding £8m because Lescott’s fee had increased market values. But it prompted Everton boss Moyes to look elsewhere and he switched targets to Distin, which has left Swiss stopper Senderos frozen out at Arsenal and hoping a club will come in for him.Aston Villa, Sunderland and Fulham have all looked at Senderos, and Martin O’Neill is still watching developments as Arsenal are keen to sell to give them cash to go for Borussia Dortmund’s Serbian defender Neven Subotic.Newcastle’s England Under-21 defender Taylor also expects to leave St James’ Park before the window shuts.Everton agreed a fee with Newcastle but his wages put them off and Villa are also looking at him.But O’Neill is after two centre halves after selling Zat Knight and Danish defender Martin Laursen retired at the end of the season.O’Neill likes Manchester City’s Republic of Ireland stopper Dunne, who is likely to be allowed to leave following the arrival of Lescott and Kolo Toure.Dunne is also a target for Sunderland, but Villa are in the driving seat for the hardman defender.Portsmouth are also hoping to complete loan deals for City’s Israeli international Tal Ben Haim and Sunderland’s Nyron Nosworthy, but are unlikely to get the go-ahead until the merry-go-round starts.
Birmingham City are poised to sign Middlesbrough's want-away star Tuncay in a £5million deal.Blues boss Alex McLeish is the first to come close to Boro's valuation for the playmaker who is ready to quit the Riverside following relegation last season. The Turkey captain has attracted interest from Birmingham's city rivals Aston Villa, German club Cologne and Tuncay's former side Fenerbahce, who he left on a free transfer two years ago.tuncayHot streak: Tuncay (2nd left) is congratulated after his opener against DoncasterAll three were put off by his £65,000-a-week wages. But Birmingham are willing to open talks with the 27-year-old Boro fans' favourite this weekend and conclude the transfer by Monday. The loss of the influential Tuncay, who has scored three goals from his three substitute appearances this season, will be a blow to Gareth Southgate but the Middlesbrough manager was resigned to losing his high earners and bigger stars following the drop to the Championship. His departure will also take some pressure off the Teesside club's wage bill, and Southgate will now be keen to off-load Brazilian striker Afonso Alves who has been the subject of enquiries and bids from Portugal, Holland and Qatar. The Boro boss will be looking to strengthen his squad before the end of the month with Derby striker Rob Hulse, Leeds' Jermaine Beckford and Nottingham Forest's Rob Earnshaw all on his radar.Southgate is preparing for bids for central defensive partners Robert Huth and David Wheater and will be hoping to see off interest from Stoke and Aston Villa.

Warnock having medical. We're not in for Tuncay, we had an original joint bid for him with Downing but we wont pay his wages/guarentee him first team football. MON keeps saying how he's happy with the amount of goals we're capable of scoring. If he's still there come deadline day and Boro still wanted Harewood the swap could have happened but looks unlikely now.Warnock and Dunne will sign I reckon. We'll try and get Distin in and Jenas/Bentley on the cheap, but fail and that'll be it.
