I have a limited company, so the prices are a better than personal leasing but wanna know more about it. Was looking at that website for Ling cars, he was on dragons den, the website is mad lol

http://www.lingscars.com/

Run it through your ltd company, claim as company car. Speak with your accountant 1st if they are good and can claim back costs as business expenses and pay minimal V.A.T. let me know.

I do it.

Going to look at a Mini Cooper tonight for my girl, what should I be looking for on Mini's?

Door hinge problem, rattling dashboard, anything else?

The basics when you view any car are generally.

1. Make sure it comes with paperwork - service history, receipts, old mots, old tax discs.

2. If you havent done so. Get a HPI report.

3. Make sure the tax disc matches the serial numbers on the car. (40% of cars bought from the net have a dodgy past)

4. The MOT it has. read it clearly in the section where it says "advisory notice" it that says yes and doesnt come with the notice then leave the car. You can also check the MOT online with the car details. its done to make sure it passed the MOT without any hiccups.

5. Check the lights all work hazards dipped etc etc .,

6. Open the engine bay check the levels of the OIL and brake fluid. (MINIS are prone to drink alot of oil.)

- Check for any leaks in the bay

- Open the coolant and oil cap to see if theres any "white gunk" if there is leave the car its a sign of engine problems

- Start the car 5 times and check for any weird noises.

- Rev the car as hard as you can and listen to the engine if it rattles or backfires you will be able to hear it.

- Check the tyres check for any holes in the exhaust.

- Check the keys and alarm is working.

- If it has a/c check the air con.

- Check the heating to make sure it blows hot air.

- The electrics the usual checking windows etc etc

If your girl is spending alot on the car its worthwhile to have the AA to come out and inspect it for you.

It costs £45 and they will also give you a HPI report.

Most importantly make sure the logbook is present and matches the location you are in.

Dont be afraid to ask question after question.

Minis are sh*t cars jus to add. Your chick will get bored pretty quick.

I too aint for it. its like a prolonged rental after paying monthly you wont have anything to show for it come aftger 12/24/36 months.

Same could be said for buying a car brand new, roll off the forecourt, and for the next 3 years the fastest way to lose your hard earned money etc...

I agree with that. but atleast from the forecourt you will have a asset come 1/2/3/4 years later even if its worth less i'd rather have less than nothing.

If you had a company then id say leasing is okay but for individuals? My opinion is aganist it.

I use this site for HPI reports.

http://www.hpicheck....CFcshtAodlB5cvg

It is really detailed.

This is a site to check if any car has insurance or not.

http://www.askmid.com/

If im buying a car and it doesnt have insurance it will always raise a eyebrow as to why.

Use this site to check the MOT status.

http://www.direct.go...mot/dg_10020539

Always VERY IMPORTANT you can check the mileage to make sure its not been clocked.

This is the AA section for them to do the check on your car.

http://www.theaa.com...ons/prices.html

Its gone up from the last time I used it years ago.

£130 starting. But if they find a fault then that figure is well worth it.

Bit prejudice but IN MY OPINION Im always weary of asian car sellers and eastern european car sellers.

Im not saying they are all crooks but im basing this on my experience over the years and is just my own opinion. no racism.

I tend to buy from a elderly man or woman.

What eskay has said goes for any car tbh

But if your checking out a mini this is what I would look for...

Check the gear box these often start going quick on minis

The sun roof motor also can be very dodgey when u open it check if it's stiff and scrapes

Minis come with run flats cos there is no spare tyre just make sure they are in good condition because they are pricey to replace.
