whats the reasoning for taken shoes off when doing squads / deadlifts?

Can feel the ground better.

More force as your not pushing through a sole

Most trainers are pronated or the opposite (can't remember the name) so it will roll your ankles/knees in our out affecting form.

I see.

This one dude telling me it's not good for you and footballers not allowed because it damages your knees

:/

ah see now theres some truth in this, ive been told since young to avoid too much running as the impact on knees can be detrimental to skating/hockey, was always told to use bike or swim instead

Majority of people in the gym think they know it all.. As long as you're running with good form and have suitable footwear there will be no excessive stress on knees.. Running on road can be bad for your knees if you have an awkward running stance (foot pressure placement) and again poor footwear but nothin your average amateur has to worry about.. Like I said before the most important part is warming up as stretching and staying hydrated.. An ideal session would be

*enter gym*

5 minute CV warm up

Dynamic stretches (full body or the body part you're working)

*Session* (starting each new exercise with a warm up set)

5 minute CV cool down e.g starting at a jog and gradually building down to a walk.

Static stretches (body parts worked)

Still have to warm up and stretch before a cardio session
