The 23-year-old playmaker is a key part of the France World Cup squad in South Africa, and reports suggest Arsene Wenger is lining him up as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas, with the Gunners' captain expected to complete a big-money return to Barcelona later in the summer. Sources close to Gourcuff have indicated that he would not consider a move within France but would entertain a switch to a top European club competing in the Champions League, seemingly ruling out Manchester City, who have also shown an interest. Wenger knows Gourcuff's style and physical power make him ideally suited to the Premier League. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has tried to bring the player to the Stade Gerland before and is keen to chance his arm again, having confirmed his awareness of the player's availability.
