Joe Cole set to leave Chelsea - Harry Redknapp"I am a big fan of his but the feedback we've got is that he's already signed for somebody else," said Redknapp.Redknapp was speaking following Cole's inclusion in Fabio Capello's England World Cup squad and feels that if the Chelsea man does not stay at Stamford Bridge he would be a useful acquisition for someone."I've got a feeling he may have agreed a deal with somebody," Redknapp told BBC Radio 5 live."Certainly in the summer someone is going to make a very good free signing if he doesn't stay at Chelsea."I don't think it's going to be Tottenham that sign him but if he hasn't agreed a deal with somebody and he doesn't stay at Chelsea then we would be interested."Reports have suggested Cole and his representatives have angered Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich with their hard-line stance over wages during contract negotiations.

John Cross of The Mirror stuck up on Twitter

Joe Cole has 100pc NOT signed for #Arsenal. Checked it, it's not true. They like him but Joe wants to concentrate on WC, decision after SA
The Metro have pretty much reported the same quotes from Redknapp with this
According to reports, Cole's representatives met up with Arsenal officials yesterday to thrash out the terms of the deal while the midfield playmaker was being called up to England's World Cup squad by Fabio Capello.Barring any complications in the process the transfer is expected to be finalised next week, with a view to announcing the move before the tournament in South Africa begins in ten days' time.

Midfielder Jean Makoun admits his future at Lyon is in doubt after a disappointing campaign. The Cameroon international has had a turbulent second season in which his relationship with Lyon fans was strained as the club finished second in Ligue 1.Makoun, who scored the goal which knocked Real Madrid out of last season's UEFA Champions League, admits he may be forced to consider his options if the chance to leave arises."After no title it is quite difficult. So, even though I have two years remaining on my contract at Lyon, I don't reject any hypotheses because it didn't go smoothly at Gerland this season" Makoun told L'Equipe. He added "I am prepared to fulfil my contract, but my agents will meet the Lyon officials and anything can happen."Tottenham, Arsenal and Juventus have monitored his progress in the past and will no doubt be alerted by the 26-year-old's apparent unhappiness.

Bordeaux's Yoann Gourcuff would choose Arsenal over Lyon and Manchester City as clubs compete to meet £21m release clausePlaymaker would move from France, but wants a Champions League team1 Jun 2010 11:57:00EXCLUSIVEBy Andy BrassellBordeaux's Yoann Gourcuff would prefer a move to Arsenal, despite Lyon's willingness to meet the £21 million release clause in his contract, Goal.com UK can confirm. The 23-year-old playmaker is a key part of the France World Cup squad in South Africa, and reports suggest Arsene Wenger is lining him up as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas, with the Gunners' captain expected to complete a big-money return to Barcelona later in the summer. Sources close to Gourcuff have indicated that he would not consider a move within France but would entertain a switch to a top European club competing in the Champions League, seemingly ruling out Manchester City, who have also shown an interest. Wenger knows Gourcuff's style and physical power make him ideally suited to the Premier League. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has tried to bring the player to the Stade Gerland before and is keen to chance his arm again, having confirmed his awareness of the player's availability. "I've seen his contract and there is a maximum departure clause of €25m [£21m]. If he wants to leave in August, we'll break the bank [for him]," Aulas told L'Equipe TV last night. Turning his back on France? | Gourcuff could leaveRelations between Aulas and Bordeaux counterpart Jean-Louis Triaud are delicate. The pair clashed last season over league scheduling around their Champions League quarter-final, and have crossed swords on a number of occasions down the years, notably when Aulas tried to persuade Marouane Chamakh to make the move east in 2005. Triaud would be loathe to let a domestic competitor sign Gourcuff, much less Aulas, which could potentially allow Arsenal a clear path to broker a deal - perhaps even at a figure below £21m.Bordeaux are contemplating a summer of restructuring following the departure of coach Laurent Blanc and the failure to qualify for next season's Champions League. Blanc's replacement Jean Tigana faces an estimated £20m shortfall in the club's projected budget, which the departure of his most valuable asset could wipe out at a stroke. Tigana would also like some working capital with which to rebuild his side.

Look, Fabregas is gone. He's already a Barcelona player, even if he played in an Arsenal shirt next season. Do not want. Why would you want players who so CLEARLY not want to be here, playing for & captaining your side?Whilst Gourcuff wouldn't be a like for like replacement, him at Arsenal would be a world-class signing regardless. However, like I said, I'm not going to entertain the thought.
