Manchester City close in on Gaël Clichy but deny move for Samir NasriManchester City are confident that the Arsenal left-back Gaël Clichy will become their first signing of the summer, but they have distanced themselves from reports that they are also trying to persuade Arsenal into a £20m deal for Samir Nasri. The two clubs have agreed a £7m fee for Clichy and the player is expected to arrive in Manchester early next week. But there have been no high-level talks about Nasri's potential availability and none are planned.Nasri, who has been prominently linked with a move to Manchester United, has one year left on his contract and City are monitoring him as a possible back-up option for later in the summer. However, their interest has never gone beyond that point and City are bemused by reports they have been closing in on a deal with the player's agent and club.City will be relieved to conclude the deal for Clichy, who was the subject of a £5m bid from Liverpool last week, after a difficult start to their summer transfer business that saw them concede defeat to Barcelona in the signing of Udinese's Chile forward Alexis Sánchez.Shaun Wright-Phillips, who is no longer wanted by City, is attracting interest from Wigan and Bolton, though any move may depend on him accepting a reduction from his current £60,000-a-week salary.

RVP apparently wants to leave now as wellQueenofSuburbiaQueenofSuburbia QueenofSuburbiaby DarrenArsenal1RVP on Radio1 NL "we are talking yes, but I want to win trophies and if I don't think i can, I won't sign - this summer will decide"34 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply

Not really a surprise is it.Coming back to training and seeing the smiles on Almunia's and Denilson's faces because they can stay stealing a living because no one wants them is bound to make any player think twice about staying at Arsenal.Same old cycle. Our best midfielder now will be a 19 year old with 1 year top flight experience who knows how to cause trouble in town after a home game. Our best striker will be someone who has no confidence in his finishing ability so never shoots. All we do is go after players in the third rate French top flight.Wouldn't surprise me if Vermaelen was considering a move now as well.

So I learnt a key fact about Arsenal's transfer situation today..... Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri & Gael Clichy all share the same agent. And the same said agent (a la representative/adviser within player's team) has just signed up Robin Van Persie, which will cheer Ivan no end
"We are f*cked, f*cked, we are sooooooooooooooooooo f*cked"
Leading football agent Jerome Anderson has dismissed suggestions key players will leave Arsenal this summer because they are unhappy at the club's inability to win silverware. He insists their desire to quit north London is more to do with money than trophies, even though the Gunners offer their top names fantastic contracts.
He should know as he has taken a lot of P out of Arsenal over the years.

I LOVE readiing foreign written stories...

Atletico Madrid still working to gain the services of a goalkeeper, given the precariousness of the position. Although in the Atletico knew that David De Gea leave the team in late June, the lack of a defined structure in the direction sports has given rise to delay deadlines. Now, Jose Luis Perez Caminero is diving into the market in search of a partner to Joel. The goalkeeper of the quarry would take the place of De Gea because the natural substitute, Asenjo, is recovering from a serious knee injury. This situation invites a double reflection. Are you able to take on Atletico goal so young a boy as Joel (21 years) and what is the best choice in the role of substitute goalkeeper? Caminero seems to be decided. Want a mix of youth and seniority. The first one has it and is now seeking the second. Two names sound hard and in this order, Almunia and Aranzubia. It is the desire of sports management, a janitor who does not give theoretical shade holder. They do not want a young c*ck fight because it is a very delicate position. Currently Manuel Almunia does not have much to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, while Dani Aranzubia if it comes in the plans of Deportivo, but the League Two relegation to the could force his departure from the Galician club.

What is Wenger saying or not saying/doing for players rather leave than stay help succeed ?I know its a reg trend for players to jump ship willy nilly these days, but seems to be very often our players wanna leave or "reported" to want to leave.Surely them lot must be thinking "nah f*ck that watch next season, we will avenge B'ham beating us in Final"

The current crop want to leave for various reasons IMOClichy is moneyFab has lost faith in Wengers plans tbh and of course the move to Barcelona is his dream. I firmly believe if we won something this season Fabregas would probably stick aroundAnd with Nasri I genuinely believe he wanted to sign a contract before his agent gassed him. Nasri probably wanted to see what we did in the market originally but his agent has definately gassed him, threw some figures at him, told him he can be a winner here and there while picking up more money blah blah blah. I think the way Nasri hasn't really declared a interest publicly while backing his case to Arsenal fans on twitter is that he really hasn't ruled out staying at ArsenalDenilson is jumping before he gets pushed@Gayle

I think Arsenal never really moved the earth to tie down Clichy and he feels a bit burnt by it, plus I remember Clichy signing his previous contract fairly quickly and with little fuss, when other clubs was monitoring him, maybe he feels the promises he was told then haven't happened and is now just demanding excesses to stick with the project.Fabregas is just cos its Barcelona. I do think the media sensationalise how much he wants to go back tho...Nasri is a weird one, as I genuinely think he just wanted to extract as much p from Arsenal. However its dragged too long now, and £180,000 per week is never being matched by Arsenal and nor should it be.I think we put too much on Wenger, there's only so much he can say and so many promises he can make. I think sometimes Arsenal need to allow Gazidas to handle things (after all its his job) - to sell the club to the players, to state the ambition, make some promises, and not just spout the same recycled rubbish, thats he has been briefed on.Bit like our new owner should.Infact Gazidas should now give up with these three, (let Wenger handle them now and try salvage it) and turn to sorting out Walcott and van Persie who now have two years remaining. Failure to handle them two will make Gazidas' role very questionable.

We don't have to win a trophy., yes it might hush some of Wenger's doubters for that month, but I just think we need to change as a club, and show some ambition/spend some money and do something different. If we had won the Carling Cup, people would be saying now... "Cesc Fabregas/Samir Nasri want to leave cos he wants to win major honours, and the Carling Cup ain't a major honour." "Wenger should go, cos winning one Carling Cup in seven years isn't good enough"
