Nobody is asking for Makelele. People are exaggerating what we would like to justify the Khedira interest. There's a difference between being an actual DM, who sits in front of the defence (Busquets, De Jong, Mikel) & a ball-winning CM who preses & plays further up the pitch & alongside a midfield partner (double pivot, J. Martinez, Fernandinho)...

What Arsenal fans want is the latter. They are not asking for the former. Nobody wants a DM, we want a ball-winning CM that people mistake for a DM.

Khedira does not fit that profile. He's a proper box to box midfielder.

On a purely one deal to deal comparsion basis, Sagna probably is cheaper. So yes you'd keep Sagna and give him what he wants...

 

However when the rest of the squad want their renewals, the yard stick is the RB, is on 150k a week.

Busquets like Mascherano (the CB) and Pique look better than they really are because of the other players. He is one of the most overrated players in recent times

 

There is no way you can put him ahead of the likes of Rikaard, Mattheus, Deschamps, Redondo, Davids, Keane.......

I really use to rate Busquets, a year ago, I might have even gone along with you MK, but he's had a TERRIBLE year for club and country.
