:D my mind is blown
Lol at Barca thinking 35 mill is acceptable when man like Henderson go for 20 milltbh while disappointed with players we linked with, and Theo is 100 percent right in saying "big signings" will convince our "best" players to stay, matching ambitions etc etc. Wenger doing his transfer business in Selfridges not Primark, is a big step and allot to ask for aloneso I cant see Wenger making "big" signings until the future of El Capitain and Sammy Nas, has been sorted.../isit true we had a 8 mill bid for Samba rejected?

Kieran Gibbs has withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad for this summer’s European Championships. The Arsenal defender picked up an ankle injury during the Young Lions’ 2-0 victory over Norway on Sunday and has not travelled to Denmark.Head Coach Stuart Pearce said: "It's unfortunate for Kieran, but he went for a scan yesterday and is in a medical boot."Henri Lansbury, who spent the majority of last season on loan at Norwich, is in the squad.
Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that promising defender Carl Jenkinson, 19, has arrived from League One side Charlton Athletic. His signing was confirmed as young Gunners Benik Afobe, Chuks Aneke and Oguzhan Ozyakup also pledged their futures to the Club. Jenkinson joins Arsenal having featured nine times for Charlton Athletic’s first team. Predominantly a right-back, the 6ft 1ins youngster can also play in the centre of defence. Although born in England, Jenkinson qualifies to represent both England and Finland through his mother. The defender has already represented both countries at youth level, and last season captained Finland Under-19s. Afobe, a forward and England Youth International, joined the Club aged just eight and has risen through the ranks to play Under-18 and Reserve team football, signing professional terms in February 2010. The Leyton-born youngster returned from his loan spell at Huddersfield Town a firm favourite with the Terriers’ faithful, having scored eight times in 36 appearances. This helped Lee Clark’s team to a 25 game unbeaten run, culminating in reaching the League One play-off final. Newham-born midfielder Aneke is another player to have come through the Club’s Hale End Academy, which he joined aged seven, to cement a place in Neil Banfield’s Reserves setup. Last term the England Under-18 International scored six goals in 17 games to help the second string to the runners-up spot in the FA Premier Reserve League South. Chuks signed professional terms in July 2010. Midfielder Ozyakup has enjoyed a promising start to his fledgling Arsenal career, since arriving from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar two seasons ago. The Netherlands Youth International joined forces with Aneke and Afobe to help Steve Bould’s Under-18s to a Premier Academy League title in 2010 and has proven himself to be a key player in the Reserves, with 22 appearances to his name so far. Everyone at Arsenal would like to welcome Carl to the Club and look forward to the continued progression of all four players in the years to come.

Can anyone see Wenger claiming "Walcott" as our new striker this year. This would mean signing either Chamberlin or Gervinho for the right wing.
Theo Walcott exclusively reveals to ITV.com that he can be the man to spearhead Arsenal's forward line next season as he looks to prove to club and country that he is an out-and-out striker.Walcott also says he has a goal target in mind for next season and insists that Arsenal must win some silverware.http://www.itv.com/sport/football/news/exclusive-walcott-looks-forward-to-central-role-93855/

Liam Brady has predicted that Arsenal will make the grand statement on the summer transfer market that many of their players and supporters crave, and that Samir Nasri will be convinced that his long-term future lies at the club.Nasri has entered the final 12 months of his contract and negotiations over a new deal are at an impasse, which has led to worry and frustration, particularly as Manchester United have been credited with an interest in him. The midfielder is known to want to see big-name signings at Arsenal as a statement of the club's intent, after the disappointments at the end of last season. But Brady, the head of youth development, believes that Arsène Wenger is primed to spend. The manager has a serious interest in the striker Gervinho and the attacking midfielder Eden Hazard, both of whom play for Lille. He also wants a central defender from the Premier League and he likes Gary Cahill of Bolton Wanderers, although he fears that, at £17m, he is expensive."I do think there will be a lot of business done this year and I do think we will be spending probably a bit more money than we have spent in past seasons," Brady told TalkSport. "I think Arsenal will spend this year."On the subject of Nasri, he added: "We all rate Nasri at the club. They have had pretty extensive contractual talks but they have not got to their conclusion yet. Sometimes it takes time, doesn't it? We all know that. There have been plenty of players in that position. But I would still be optimistic that Samir will be playing with us next year."Brady also revealed his surprise that Fabio Capello, the England manager, had stayed out of the row over Jack Wilshere's involvement in the European Under-21 Championship, which gets under way in Denmark on Saturday. Stuart Pearce, the England Under-21 manager, had been determined to select Wilshere but Wenger, who did not want him to go after a long and tiring season, eventually got his way when the player made himself unavailable."I would have said that Jack came to the conclusion himself," Brady said. "It's quite obvious that Arsène Wenger didn't want him to go and it's quite obvious that Stuart Pearce did. I think Fabio Capello stayed out of the argument, which was strange. But Jack probably reached the decision himself. That's what I said in the beginning. It's up to the player. I think a mature decision was reached by all."

Ivory Coast winger Gervinho has confirmed that he will leave Lille in the coming weeks and has set his heart on playing in England. The 24-year-old, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester City, looks set to spurn the advances of continental suitors in a bid to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.Speaking to Skysports.com, Gervinho stated: ”My mind is made up, I am leaving.“I have made my mind up. I will soon meet the club and let them know, but they understand my feelings that I want to prove myself in a top league in Europe.“My agents are moving things as I want, people know where my future lies, it is in England.”Gervinho helped Lille to a Ligue 1 and French Cup Double last season, but with only one year left on his contract will likely be allowed to leave the Stade Lille-Metropole for a fee in the region of £10 million. It remains to be seen which of his proposed English suitors makes the first move with the player’s agent keeping his cards close to his chest when talking to Arseblog News yesterday.“It is difficult for me to discuss the situation because it is confidential, but it is true that many clubs in England have contacted us concerning the availability of Gervinho,” revealed Seb Boisseau.“For the moment he wants to think about Arsenal, Manchester City, and other clubs. It is difficult for me to comment, as you have good information and sometimes wrong information, but it is not good for me to comment, or for the clubs, or for Lille.“For the moment it is confidential, and we will wait until Gervinho makes an agreement with one club.“I think a decision will be made regarding his future by the end of the week.”http://news.arseblog.com/index.php/2011/06/gervinho-gears-up-for-premier-league-move/

Arsene Wenger has been blasted for failing to manage Andrey Arshavin properly at Arsenal.Russia boss d*ck Advocaat reckons Wenger should ask Arshavin to orchestrate his attack. Instead, the 30-year-old is used as a box-to-box player or an impact substitute.Advocaat said: "One of his problems is that he plays 20 minutes per game," said Advocaat. "Arsene Wenger uses him as a player who can be fielded in the second half and who can refresh the game."Andrey is showing willingness to give the team the best of what he has. I worked with him for over two years at Zenit and I know who he is."Expecting from him 90-minute running means not knowing and not understanding Arshavin."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants TWO new centre halves – and is in talks with Blackburn’s Chris Samba and Bolton’s Gary Cahill.Wenger has accepted that his back-line has to be strengthened and is trying to agree deals for the proven top-flight defenders.Rovers star Samba’s touch may not be the best but he would be ideal for domestic action, where Arsenal were found wanting last season. The Arsenal boss will have to pay around £12million to land him.Samba would also leap at the move, which would be a blow for Blackburn as they are already losing Phil Jones at the end of a season in which they only avoided relegation on the final day.Wenger has also made a fresh move for classy Cahill, ironically after pulling out of a potential double deal for Samba and Jones. The Gunners chief was not prepared to meet the valuation on England Under-21 prospect Jones, who is now believed to be heading for Manchester United.Arsenal would like to take England squad-man Cahill for around £15m cash or throw some of their fringe players into a part-exchange package.Bolton also have interest from Manchester City, which also includes exchanges, but the Gunners may appeal more to Cahill. It would be a massive change of direction if Arsenal raided the domestic market heavily, but this past season has taught Wenger a few painful lessons.

Theo Walcott may have got carried away or simply accepted the suggestions of others. But if he or the Arsenal fans think that the Gunners are going to buy a host of established stars this summer, they are kidding themselves.Arsene Wenger is thought to have around £35million at his disposal, unless he sells to raise funds, and that total has to include the salary packages.Do the maths - even a £10m signing with wages of £50,000-a-week over four years (which would not tempt any of the best known players in their prime) would be a £20m commitment in total. That is why resisting Samir Nasri's new contract demands is not a stance for show. The sums Arsenal are dealing in cannot be taken lightly while they still have a stadium to pay for and no-one taking the role of Sugar Daddy.Every additional £10,000-a-week is £500,000-a-year and makes a dent in the budget - even if the Frenchman had a mostly great season and deserves a rise.So trying to get maximum value for inflated egos like Nicklas Bendtner and sign relative bargains, such as Thomas Vermaelen was, remains the plan.Part exchanges involving Denilson and Shakhtar Donetsk's Willian will make a lot of sense.Wenger is seldom tempted by galacticos anyway. He seems to get a kick out of finding good players and trying to make them great. The manager is not bad at it either, but what he has accepted - and this is what will influence him in the transfer market - is that his young team have lacked the experience and mental resilience that some players who have been around the block can offer.Stan Kroenke, the new majority shareholder, could change all that of course and cover a significantly boosted budget, but that is highly unlikely.Arsenal may get one big-name signing this summer and Wenger will have to wheel and deal for the other players he needs to make the difference.
