Work & Life

I'm technical lead (the only one) for Apple Macs at the Uni. They sent me away on a course to do Windows SCCM training and some ungrateful c*nt has kicked off at work. The head of ops and the security manager were emailing me until midnight about stuff cos the director is hassling them. Now they talking about pulling me off the course.

I told them I needed someone else I can train up but they refused.

Are u a permanent staff member?

Member of ur union?

Spoken to hr?

Yh but thats not how a good job is suppposed to be. There should be contingency. Thats how u know ur understaffed and under trained.

Dont jus accept this kind of life.

I know certain people love bein the only one who knows something cos it makes u indispensable but u can end up messin ur self up.

I'm no slave. I do my hours. I tale my sick leave. Fuck it

In my last job if I was ill essential work was covered by my colleagues an the rest would pile up. But why am I getting stressed about the pile up?. I do what I can. If I work while sick it takes me longer to recover. Just because the work isnt physical doesn't mean it doesn't take a physical toll.

People need to understand that work isnt always life. If ur are employed then u need to know what fair employment is

This is the problem in this depression. 2 sometimes 3 people job wrapped up into one role.

Its a chief and its not right

Again in my last role I never used to moan but when things got unmanageable I spoke up. Laid out my work load an just stopped takin on new tasks. I didn't have visibility of my counterparts workload so I put my foot down

They then recruited 2 more people doubling the resource

People fought for our right to sick leave. Use it

Would rather use those when I'm really ill.

Not about feeling a bit sh*t and bringing it to the office.

This is my absolute pet hate, if you're sick keep it at home. If I was an employer my office would be a sick free zone (within reason). Rather 1 guy off sick for 2 weeks, than 5 people off for 3/4 days.

If I was an employee I'd come into work when sick and save my sick days for when I want an extra holiday.

Seen this too many times - especially at crunch.

You can see the gradual wave of people who have to go off sick spread throughout the studio because one hero brought his germs in.

Fuck that, if I'm ill I'm taking the day off.

Or working form home - that doesn't count as an ill day.

Taken 6 days off ill this year already, chuck in a few work from homes too, gotta make the most of it.

Plus my company is shit with holiday, start with 20 days and each year you work you get another year, gtfo

Its wrong! And you make it worse for people who need to take the time off.

Anytime anyone is sick in my office people always assume they are skiving

Are you the one bringing ur germs in john doe?

Messed up my data validation cos he didn't understand how it worked.

I am shocked he didn't jus Google

Weird cos he comes across as really clever but my eyes are opening to this level of incompetence
