The problem I had with Berbatov's 10/11 season was although he scored a lot, the goals came in patches.

Like he's scores 5 goals in 3 games. The last game being the hat-trick against Pool. So now you're thinking he has to be the 1st name on the team sheet with that form. Then he doesn't score in his next 10 appearances. By now you're starting to get fed up with him but Fergie plays him anyway and he scores 5 goals vs Blackburn.

Or later on in the season when he didn't score in 4 games, then scored 5 in 2, followed by a 7 game drought, which ended with him saving the day with a late winner off the bench vs Bolton when we was down to 10 men.

The Rooney/Hernandez partnership and the chances he missed in the FA Cup vs City was the beginning of the end for him

Great player, unplayable on his day but can be so frustrating at times

This scored 5 goals against blackburn , 3 against the scouse and people wonder why we benched him .

He would play one great game then about 6 sh*t ones

Rooney went 14 games without scoring same season

The longest rooney has gone without a goal for us is 8 games so where did you find your info

the point is welbeck wasnt firing enough goals last season, at some point him and hernandez were still getting played even tho they couldnt score

berba hit 7 in 12 games......

some united fans dont like to hear dis but SAF is at fault.

Scoring was NEVER , EVER our problem .

Defence and midfield was so i don't get this point .

Wellbeck bar the goals brings far more to us as a TEAM than berbatov does

course not....we lost the league on points rite???

the fact that he dropped his leading scorer from the year before takes the piss.

SAF is too stubborn at times....

The biggest mistake was not selling him to PSG last summer,

Yes there were question marks over Welbeck and Hernandez's ability to repeat his debut season form but that was the moment to cash in.

I feel for him as the whole thing was a wrong fit and a part of me feels that even though Fergie was an admirer of him he was signed in part to get one over City.

He's also been done over by the clause that allowed the club to give him a extra year without having any desire to use him.

Hope he gets a good move and soon.

alex ferguson does not know how to work with or treat established stars

guy is useless when it comes to that

only good at making stars...bringing through the young and unknown has a 0% ratio with the already made

thats jus bull....

would you like to prove that statement wrong ?

at least when berba is not scoring he contributes with assists and creates space and chances for others...remember rooney was shocking that season and only picked up right near the end

fergie got gassed over rooney/hernandez and it blinded him

just like he got gassed off a midfield of park and giggs

cant see how united fans can forgive for his shocking tactics in the final v barca..... had nani on the bench, hernandez got 1 touch the whole game.... no berba, was just fucking terrible

not letting Rooney go could possibly be the worst decision the club has ever made

Fergie has lost his ruthless streak

At the end of the day Rooney/Hernandez became the 1st choice partnership at the club and last season Rooney/Welbeck jumped ahead of that pushing Berbatov further down the pecking order

Now you can say Berbatov got treated unfairly but it would've been more unfair to break partnerships that worked so well by dropping Hernandez or Welbeck just to make Berbatov more happy with some more starts

Rooney needs to play left of a front three or furthest forward of a front two

nothing else.

Welbeck came from on loan to start ahead of Berbatov, he didn't jump ahead of nobody.

Fergie just didn't wanna play Berbatov.

I meant to say the Rooney/Welbeck partnership jumped ahead. As in Fergie thought Rooney/Welbeck>>>Rooney/Hernandez>>>Rooney/Berbatov

Fergie f*cked up after 2008 when he added static and predictable players to a team that was playing free flowing, fluid football.

That Utd team that season was about the triple threat of Rooney/Tevez/Ronaldo who were all versatile and all effectively had free roles at times.

Just thinking when you look at those 3 they could all play down the middle or on either wing. Also not forgetting Nani who could do the same too. Then the problem in the last few years is that we didn't replace Tevez and Ronaldo with players that could the same thing. For example Valencia can only play on the right wing and Berbatov, Owen and Hernandez can only play down middle. So we lost that fluid movement in the final 3rd. But all of a sudden at the start of last season when those players wasn't on the pitch and we had guys like Rooney, Welbeck and Nani playing together it nearly felt like 2008 again.

That's probably one of the reasons why Fergie wanted Sanchez last summer.

With Berba's agent talking about Fergie wanting to change the style and speed of our game + that fact that we're being linked to players that fit this change like Lucas (previously Hazard and Gaitan) and signed Kagawa it makes me thing that Fergie could be looking to go back to that free flowing style of football we once had.

Rooney as a #9, I'm not sure.

When he's acting hollywood I'd rather have him on the end of our build up play as a #9 instead of in the middle of it as a #10 f*ck*ng up our moves.

I agree

The guy simply cannot dribble or play out of tight spaces

Alie, people would say his a good passer though, cause everytime he gets it he constantly switches it to the wings, yet he rarely plays a defence splitting ball.
