Wouldn't class him as being injured, him playing games doesn't seem to be the issu, it's the stuff in between games that seem to be problematic. Due to his past I imagine he's built up quite a good understanding of how his body works and is maintained, the fitness staff have worked with him for over a year. Not sure how accurate the reports are but it seems like it's the intency of the training that is a issue.

Yeah a coach off RAWK was saying that explosive players like RVP would suffer under Moyes because he trains all his players the same rather than creating customised individual training plans. He said Rooney would benefit due to the intensity of the cardio training as he's a player who struggles to maintain a good level of fitness but players like RVP wouldn't benefit and would pick up more frequent soft tissue injuries.

He's been pretty accurate with his predictions so far.

Michael Carrick could face stint on Manchester United sidelines

Carrick has not trained for two days because of an Achilles problem

Michael Carrick will miss Manchester United’s Barclays Premier League match away to Fulham today and is a doubt for the games against Real Sociedad and Arsenal next week.

The United midfielder has not trained for the past two days because of an Achilles problem and will sit out the visit to Craven Cottage, although his absence is unlikely to be enough to earn Marouane Fellaini a place in the starting line-up.

Michael Carrick could face stint on Manchester United sidelines

David Moyes, the United manager, is expected to start with two from Phil Jones, Tom Cleverley and Ryan Giggs in central midfield as Fellaini’s struggles to force his way into the first team since his £27.5 mil lion move from Everton in September continue.

Moyes confirmed that Carrick was a doubt for the Fulham game as United look to build on a run of three successive wins and said he was “not sure” if the England midfielder would be available to face Sociedad in Spain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Carrick’s injury is thought to be similar to the Achilles problem that resulted in him having a disrupted start to the 2010-11 season.

Although Moyes started Carrick in the 4-1 defeat by Manchester City, despite the player being ill overnight, the manager will be hesitant about taking any risks with his most important midfielder, who may also face a race to be fit for the visit of Arsenal to Old Trafford in the league a week tomorrow.

Fellaini was ineligible to play against Norwich City in the 4-0 Capital One Cup fourth-round win on Tuesday, having already played for Everton in the competition this season, but he was an unused substitute in United’s previous two matches against Sociedad and Stoke City.

His most recent appearance came in the 1-1 draw at home to Southampton a fortnight ago, when he was substituted in the second half after a poor display.

Aside from solid showings in the Champions League matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Shakhtar Donetsk, Fellaini has failed to make an impression. Moyes said in the wake of the City defeat, in which Fellaini was dominated by Yaya Touré, that the Belgian was short of the required sharpness to adjust to the step up at United.

Moyes said the form of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will be key as United look to build on the momentum gained by victories against Sociedad, Stoke and Norwich.

Luis Suárez and Daniel Sturridge may have earned much acclaim for their partnership, which has yielded 16 goals for Liverpool, but Moyes believes Rooney and Van Persie — who have 14 goals between them for United — could prove unstoppable in time.

“Wayne and Robin on their day will be a match for any player in the world, never mind in this country,” the manager said. “When those two are firing, they are the best. When we hit a real run those two will be something to rival.

“We’ve got two games to play before we play Arsenal and we’re hoping to keep the run going into that period. I do see signs that the players are beginning to find a little bit of form.”

Rooney has captained United twice this season and Moyes views the England forward as a long-term successor to Nemanja Vidic for the armband.

“I think Wayne has always had an ability to be a captain,” he said. “I think he’s got a love of football which is the biggest thing.

“And I think in his own way he leads by example. In the future, I think he could be a future skipper here.”

Manchester United's Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa, 24, wants to leave Old Trafford in January because he does not want to risk a lack of fitness and form ahead of the World Cup.
