Lingard was part of the United youth team that won the 2011 FA Youth Cup, playing alongside the likes of Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison, both of whom left the club.

He told the Daily Express: "Morrison and Pogba could still be playing in the first team if they had stayed but they chose different paths, although they're still playing obviously - Pogba's at Juventus and Rav's at Lazio.

"I still keep in touch with both of them but no, I haven't said anything to Pogba about coming back here! It's just normal chat. He's a down-to-earth guy.

"They were both massive talents. Ravel off the cuff, Pogba with strength and skill in midfield. Most coaches thought that youth team would all break through together."
