That Palmeri guy is one of twitters top trolls

It wasn't him that broke the news.  It was that other Italian that has got everything right so far, Baldini's friend.

The bid was pre Eriksen.

Basically we still have 40 mil to spend.

We are going to raid Spain as they have release clauses.   If we lose tomorrow, Baldini will go nuts and possibly break our transfer record again.  Not to mention we are still pushing for Coentrao..

Herrera tells Athletic Bilbao he wants Manchester United move, deal looks on

Posted by SPORT WITNESS on August 31, 2013 at 23:44 in Sport Witness Football

herreraspain.jpg

Earlier today we covered news from regional Basque newspaper El Correo who insinuated that Athletic Club had taken an extra player on the trip to Madrid just in case Ander Herrera wouldn't be playing.

The newspaper explained that it was usual for the club to take 18 players in a travelling squad but that this weekend they had taken 19 and the gist was it could be due to a impending departure for the young midfielder. They questioned the club's manager on this and he informed them that Herrera had not stated he didn't want to play but said he'd talk to the player before the game to check everything was fine.

This evening they have said that Herrera has informed Athletic Club that he wants to leave. El Correo headline the very small article 'Herrera says yes to United and waits', the waiting part is down to the two clubs agreeing a fee but after other reports in Spain that Manchester United would up their bid and were determined to get the player, it looks like the deal could happen.

The player will not force through a transfer if his club are set against it but Athletic sounded like they were softening their stance earlier and have not ruled out the prospect of a transfer happening during this window. Manchester United would up the player's wages significantly and provide Herrera with the chance to play in the Champions League. An excellent season could see him fight his way into contention for the Spanish World Cup squad, and that will be something of a dream if not a scenario expected at this stage.

El Correo say they'll have more on the story in their Sunday newspaper. That hasn't been released yet but when it does we'll bring you coverage of what they're saying in Bilbao about a move which would be Manchester United's record signing.

Marouane Fellaini told he can join Manchester United according to Belgian press

According to Sport Wereld in Belgium, the sport section of the country's leading newspaper Nieuwsblad, Marouane Fellaini was informed on Friday that he can leave Everton and join Manchester United. The newspaper have been very confident for a couple of weeks that the deal would happen and interview the player often, suggesting there's a possibility of inside info on this.

Again they are confident in their claims and say that today's match against Cardiff City was a farewell for the player. Sport Wereld say it all presents a happy handing for the player they dub the 'Big Fella' and reckon he'll be unveiled on Monday in a deal worth €28m.

That works out to be around £24m, which will be slightly above the price Manchester United could have got him for had they activated the player's release clause whilst it was still active, rather than try to get Fellaini for cheaper afterwards. The false economy of waiting to try and bargain has proved frustrating for Manchester United but from Everton's point of view it would see them get slightly more for the midfielder.

Fellaini's own insistance that the deal was done is said to have been the driving force behind this and Sport Wereld point out that the clause would be reactivated in January, so if Everton can get slightly more now and not have the situation repeat it could provide some comfort.

The newspaper also say that Fellaini's agreement to play today, and risk getting injured, was out of respect for Everton and his team mates. He wants to leave the club on good terms and there was no danger of him refusing to play like some other Premier League players have done during this transfer window.

Gareth Bale: Expected to join Real Madrid by Sunday evening

Sky Bet

Arsenal v Tottenham

Sky sources report that Gareth Bale's move from Tottenham to Real Madrid is to be confirmed later today.

A world-record deal for Bale was thrashed out late last night and the 24-year-old is expected to be presented to the Madrid fans tomorrow.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol confirmed the long-running saga which has dominated the summer is likely to be over before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm on Monday.

"My understanding is there has been a breakthrough," said Solhekol at White Hart Lane this morning. "Gareth Bale is on the verge of becoming a Real Madrid player for a world-record fee and the deal could go through today.

"I have been told that the deal has been thrashed out at late night meeting last night. There was a breakthrough and a deal was agreed and it is set to be announced either today or tomorrow.

"I've also been told by sources close to Gareth Bale that the deal will go through today, but I have to stress as it stands nothing official has been signed yet."

Ander Herrera has agreed to Man United move, sits on Bilbao bench v Real Madrid [El Correo]

Sunday, September 1st, 2013

Screen+Shot+2013-09-01+at+12.13.35+PM.pn

It looks very likely that Manchester United have landed Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.

Spanish newspaper El Correo splashed their front page with the headline: Herrera da el si al United y queda a la espera (Herrera gives in to United and waits).

According to the paper, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with 24-year-old Herrera – a 5-year deal worth €4m per year – but David Moyes’ team are still negotiating the transfer fee with Athletic Bilbao.

Herrera has a €36m buyout clause locked into his contract, and Bilbao are pressing the Red Devils to pay as close to that fee as possible.

Whilst the sides haggle the final price, Bilbao appear resigned to losing Herrera imminently as they benched the Spanish international for Sunday’s early kick-off against Real Madrid. Herrera had started both of Bilbao’s opening two matches of the season.

Bilbao, in recent seasons, have lost their best and most important players, Javi Martinez to Bayern Munich and Fernando Llorente to Juventus.

Herrera played in both Europa League games against Manchester United in 2011/2012, however the midfielder has yet to be selected for his national team.
