Great Manchester United news! De Gea passes medical, stays with Spain squad

Posted by SPORT WITNESS on November 15, 2014 at 19:07 in Sport Witness FootballView Discussions

When there's a vacuum of news, people will often believe whatever is thrown into it. That's why claims on Saturday that David de Gea would be missing for 4 weeks or more were catapulted into big news. It wasn't inside info, it didn't even claim to be - the 4 week plus stories were simply built on speculation.

The actual situation with David de Gea is that the Spanish medical team haven't suggested he'll miss games for Manchester United, and it's only they who have treated him. The Spanish medical team have made it known that De Gea has suffered a dislocation of the same little finger before, which seemed to - for the Spanish media at least - lessen the seriousness of the situation.

What would have been a worse case scenario for De Gea and Manchester United is a bone getting chipped or cracked during the dislocation. That hasn't happened, with ABC in Spain confirming that De Gea has passed a medical test on Saturday which was to check for damage to the bone - there is none.

As it stands he's not leaving the Spanish squad and the national set-up's doctor Oscar Celada hasn't ruled out him appearing against Germany on Tuesday. De Gea will now rest for 48 and take things from there.

It's got to be considered unlikely he'll play against Germany, caution first approach, but it's also unlikely there's any real grounding in the fear he could be out for over a month.
