For all young players, need to go to international tournaments (unders) and show that you can be your countries main man and deliver, no point doing it as a kid at full international level because there is no expectation and no weight on your shoulders, everything you do is because you're young and courageous and a bonus for fans because there are seasoned pro/vets ahead of you that the public feel should be delivering...
Guys like Rooney and Owen lit up there first national tournaments as kids and then flopped every single one after when weight was on there shoulders, don't need to be adding Rashford to that list... let him get experience as the pre tournament star and see if he delivers... then you can build a side with him as a focal point.... remember Kane, Walcott and Sturridge all flopping hard at u21 tournaments with major hype behind them...
Now if he the top English scorer or bagging 25 goals a season its a different story, you still send him but then you might have to have him in the full squad if there is no one else bagging goals.

He certainly could lead the line, but at his age and exp to even be on the bench ( and definitely in contention ) is a good look for him.
Right now he is in the best situation. Ibra will be the one that has to score and will be under pressure cause he knows if he doesn't perform its SOS Rashford again , and Jose knows that.
