BREAKING NEWS: Two men are arrested after a shopper is stabbed at Westfield shopping centre in west London with 'attackers' heard saying 'We poked him up good' 

  • Man in his 20s was attacked at about 2pm at Westfield in West London
  • Police and paramedics were called and victim was taken to hospital
  • It's been suggested two men ran away saying ‘we poked him up good’
  • Police say injuries are non life threatening and it was not terror related

A shopper was allegedly stabbed by a knife-wielding man at a shopping centre this afternoon.

The man in his 20s was attacked at about 2pm at Westfield in White City, West London, before police and paramedics were called and he was taken to hospital.

It was suggested that two men ran away saying ‘we poked him up good’, but this has not been confirmed. Two people have been arrested following the incident.

Monir Angelo tweeted: 'Someone just got stabbed in Westfield White City, broad daylight, apparently two guys ran out saying "we poked him up good". Is this life?'

And make-up artist Lei Sachelle said: 'Someone's been stabbed outside our store in Westfield. So our section of the building has been cordoned off.

'I just explained to a customer that someone got stabbed and that's why the door is closed, so why are you still trying to open the door?'

Another Twitter user posting as 'Ideh Designs', who also works at Westfield, said: 'Someone got stabbed in Westfield White City. Right underneath my store as well.'

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said today: ‘Police were called at approximately 2pm on Friday to reports of a man stabbed at Westfield Shopping Centre, W12. 

'Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and discovered a man, aged in his 20s, suffering stab injuries. He has been taken to hospital.

'An initial assessment states this is not life threatening. Two males - no further details - have been arrested in connection with this investigation. 

'Officers from Hammersmith and Fulham investigate. Enquiries continue... Officers retain an open mind as to the motive but this incident is not terror related.'

And a London Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘We were called at 2pm today to reports of a stabbing at Westfield, White City.

‘We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car and an incident response officer to the scene. 

'The first of our medics arrived at the scene in under four minutes. We treated a man at the scene and took him to a hospital in west London.’

The £1.6billion Westfield White City, which opened in 2008, is one of two Westfield sites in London - the other being in the east of the capital in Stratford.

A 16-year-old boy is fighting for life in hospital after he was shot in east London early this morning.

Police were called to Lea Bridge Road, near Bromley Road in Leyton, by paramedics.

On arrival, just after 3.10am, they found the stricken teenager suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to an east London hospital where his condition is described as critical.


No arrests have been made so far.Detectives from Waltham Forest and the Met's Trident unit are investigating the shooting.

The latest attack on a teenager comes just one day after another 16-year-old was stabbed to death in Peckham.

He was the second London youngster to be murdered in a week.
