Clubs have spent more money on agent fees in 2 years than we have since 2008.

February 2013:

Sir Alex Ferguson believes the individual fees paid to agents should be made public to show the "ridiculous" amounts they can receive.

Ferguson's former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, used his Mail on Sunday column last week to call for an independent inquiry into the role of agents and for transparency regarding payments from the players they represent.

Ferguson said: "I think most clubs have to make it transparent. Individually? I don't know how we could apply that. I don't see it doing any harm. It might highlight to the public how ridiculous it can be for some agents to make the money they do. But I don't think that will ever change. Once there's a transfer window, agents will make money. They are there and they are not going away I'm afraid. We'd like to see them go away but that won't happen."

If we're gonna go after big signings this stubborn attitude has to change because what good is sitting up on your high horse and losing tranfer wars involving players like Hazard and Lucas Moura(their agents received around £6m each that we was unwilling to pay) when you're left with Valencia and Young in your squad.

Now of course there is more obvious reasons why we have and will miss out on big signings but relaxing our stance on agent fees may hurt in the short term on the financial side but in the long run it will be worth it.

Manchester United’s Tom Lawrence Scores A Wondergoal

Manchester United’s Tom Lawrence, who is currently on loan with Carlisle United scored two wonder-goals to help them to a 4-1 victory over Tranmere Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Above, Tom Lawrence celebrating his first for Carlisle United.

Larwence is currently on loan with the league one outfit until the 1st January 2014, his second goal on Saturday was a fantastic solo run and finish that was reminiscent of that of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs back in 1999.

Carlisle United manager Graham Kavanagh said: “It was a fabulous goal by Tom. He has quick feet and an eye for goal and he took it exceptionally well.”

Fergie's public stance on agents is commendable and very upstanding on all that and I rate it, clap clap clap,

But it's also hypocritical, United aren't against paying agents, they just do it in different ways and pick and choose which agents to pay. Case in point, Fergie's son at one point (again refer back to the Fergie Rock of gilbralter fued) and Jorge Mendes.

The issue he has/had with it is at one point United had the spending power to sway any agents oppinion but now Chelsea, City and others have more.

If Pogba was a Jorge Mendes client he would've signed a new contract as United would've been fine with paying off his fee's.

Naturally the best players will gravitate to the agents who will do the best for them, whereas the club will try to get them to gravitate to the agents who will try do the best for them (the club). Or those who are in the wine tasting kliq.

The issue wasn't the price or the wages it was Pogba's choice of agents and the clubs relationship with the agent.

Pogba's agent Mino Raiola ended up getting £1.6m from Juventus. The reality is Pogba had already made up his mind about leaving before Mino started talking to Juventus and before our half hearted attempts to finally give him first team football in the last year of his contract.

Had already made uo his mind about going) Don't know about that, there are a number of different potential viewpoints.

United midfield starlet given first team number ahead of call-up

Charni Ekangamene has taken a step closer to first team football this weekend as he was given a squad number by David Moyes.

The versatile 19-year-old midfielder has been a regular for Manchester United’s Under-21s in a holding defensive midfielder role but his versatility has seen him play all across the midfield and defence when asked to be Warren Joyce.

Moyes’ decision to give Ekangamene a squad number ahead of United’s trip to Stoke City on Wednesday indicates that he feels he is ready to be given an opportunity with the first team.

It is good to see Moyes giving Ekangamene a squad number because it really shows that he has every intention on following up on his promise to involve the youth at Old Trafford whenever he can.

A versatile midfielder, Ekangamene has progressed a lot in the last 12 months and although he is not ready for the senior squad on a full time basis yet, an experience in the Capital One Cup would be great for him.

United need midfielders and Moyes has done the right thing by giving a chance to those within the lower echelons of the club rather than simply thinking about making purchases.
