[GIFS] MUFC v Cluj: 5 United Moments of class

Posted on December 6, 2012

Manchester United faced off against a CFR Cluj side who were still in with a chance of qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The Reds, already qualified as Group winners, took the chance to rest several key players ahead of the weekends Derby, and the performance was very much that off a game that did not matter. United played well in spurts but never really dominated the game and testing the Cluj defence and ended up losing to a wondergoal.

There were several great gmoments to enjoy in defeat, here are my Top 5 GIF moments…

1. Danny Welbeck run and skill

iJX64XCclYAnY.gif

One of the highlights of the game for United was this brilliant run and skill by Welbeck. Running straight at the defence with pace he pulls out a stunning pirouette before passing the ball out wide to Wayne Rooney.

2. Wayne Rooney chip effort

iZuMsn64LZXu3.gif

This would have been a fitting goal amidst the 12 GIFs of Cantona, as Wayne Rooney attempted a brilliant little chip that the keeper does well to save at full stretch.

3. Danny Welbeck chest pass

ib2nhA6Wqik5gv.gif

The ball passed down the line by Phil Jones gets the full beautiful chest pass treatment from Welbeck which sets Wayne Rooney away.

4. Javier Hernandez turn

inGVo0Qywlyfq.gif

I love this little turn by Chicharito. There could even be a little nutmeg in there as he beautifully turns his defender before being brought down.

5. Nick Powell pass

iYG7zjDSSGIj5.gif

Nick Powell made his 2nd United start and it would have been another great learning curve for the youngster who again showed glimpses what an exciting prospect he is . Here he shows the ability to play a final ball as this nice pass get Wayne Rooney in behind the defence. His attempted square pass is blocked.

FAYC Special: 5 Beautiful United GIF Moments from the u18s

Posted on December 10, 2012

Manchester United u18s were disappointingly knocked out of this seasons FA Youth Cup by Burnley in a dramatic game at Old Trafford on Friday night.

United lost 4-3 after extra time in a game they dominated for long spells. Poor defending and missed chances cost them on a night where lessons will have been learnt.

Whilst the bright stars of James Wilson and Mats Daehli did not shine as bright as they have (not through the lack of effort) and no doubt will, there were some impressive performances from the likes of Ben Pearson in central midfield, Donald Love who looks every bit a United right back and then there was Adnan Januzaj. The Belgian youngster was Uniteds best player throughout and the spark for most of the Reds best moments.

Not only does he posses a wonderful touch and footballing brain, but he has the ability to glide past players with what seems minimal effort.. Most definitely one to look out for in the very near future (See Bonus GIFs)

So in this FAYC special, here are my Top 5 GIF Moments…

1. Adnan Januzaj skill and cross

iboEUuSukV9Ktj.gif

Nice footwork from Januzaj sees him work room to put in a wonderful cross that Ben Pearson could have done a little better with.

2. James Wilson skill and shot

iNgyDEyzBBTd2.gif

The young striker did not have too many chances but looked to get involved as much as possible. Here he works his own shooting chance as he brilliantly knocks the ball over the defender’s head before blazing his shot high and wide.

3. Ben Pearson pass, Donald Love control

iDlAblPa9c0lB.gif

Stunning diagonal pass from Pearson, who was full of energy and drive throughout finds Donald love who shows of some stunning first time control before attacking the full back and laying the ball off to James Weir.

4. James Wilson backheel

ibahhzCGtu4mNj.gif

James Wilson pulls out a lovely little backheel pass as United attack. He then gets the ball back from Mats Daehli and fires a low shot from an angle that the keeper somehow holds onto.

5. Mats Daehli backheel

iER6xPOt48HoM.gif

Another skillful backheel, this time from Mats Daehli who almost gets Liam Grimshaw in on goal as United searched for a late equaliser.

5 Beautiful United GIF Moments from the Manchester Derby

Posted on December 10, 2012

Manchester United went 6 points clear at the top of the table after a dramatic win over neighbours City at The Etihad Stadium.

The performance of United in this fixture last season was heavily critized by the fans for the way in which they showed very little fight in a 1-0 loss. This season it was very different.

United played with a tempo, a purpose, a determination to rid themselves of last seasons shambles and ensure they left the Etihad with something.

They did. 3 points and a huge confidence boost heading into the Christmas fixtures.

There was plenty to admire from a Red perspective, here are my Top 5 GIF moments…

1.Patrice Evra pass

ibi7Qxm66vLXmq.gif

With the ball dropping awkwardly in front of him, Evra plays a superb first time pass on the half volley into Robin van Persie with the perfect weight for him to run on to and cross.

2. Jonny Evans diagonal pass

ihYjcMR9qKI1e.gif

Jonny Evans continues to cement himself as a first choice centre back, not only for his defending but his ability when on the ball. This diagonal ping out wide to Antonio Valencia is one that Paul Scholes would be proud off. Stunning.

3. Robin van Persie skill pass

i7TdCerOf9pFH.gif

As Van Persie receives the ball under high City pressure, he takes one touch to flick the ball up and then passes it to Antonio Valencia over his head on the volley.

4. David de Gea saves

irHPcNHfrIL17.gif

iboeryhmhlpfDO.gif

ibm3pxeCq9CMwk.gif

De Gea is our best keeper, and for me easily our #1. He has the ability to make world class saves every game. This was no different as he does brilliantly to get down and stop the first shot from Tevez and then showing great reflexes to save what looked a certain goal from David Silva.

Unfortunately or him, the next effort from Toure did beat him.

He will feel he earned his luck which was displayed in this save from Silva (last replay shows hint of moving shoulder towards the ball?) later in the game, and it was great to see his penalty box dominance improving as he made several nice punches like this one

5. Rio Ferdinand back header

igPE5yj7UEJkk.gif

As a Joe Hart goal kick heads to Rio, he is wrestling with Tevez for positioning He then, instead of heading it back to City plays a lovely little back header to help United keep possession.

Arsenal are to make a £20m swoop for Manchester United misfit Nani, according to reports today.

The Portugal international is currently out of favour at Old Trafford, attributed to a dispute with Manchester United over his contract demands and a bust-up with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 26-year-old has not played since he was substituted during United's Champions League match in Braga early last month.

Nani's contract expires in 2014 and with a new deal at Manchester United looking increasingly unlikely, the club will look to offload the winger while his value remains high.

It is reported that United will demand £20m for the player they signed from Sporting Lisbon for £14m back in 2007.

Arsenal are the leading contenders to stump up the cash according to The Sun, with Nani an ideal replacement for Theo Walcott, who is current involved in his own contract dispute.

The England winger's current deal expires at the end of the season, and although manager Arsene Wenger has publicly said Walcott will not be sold in January, allowing the player to leave for nothing at the end of the season goes against all the Arsenal manager's usual financial mindfulness.

Its funny because when i was listening to the sunday supplement this morning i was left with the feeling that i wouldn't be surprised if Fergie was at least half heartedly interested in Walcott.

Signing Nani and Zaha could be a big shot in the arm for Arsenal imo.

reckon Nani will end up at either Milan, Inter but pobably Juve tho

Sir Alex Ferguson has given a rare insight into the methods that have made him the most successful manager in English football.

The Manchester United manager engaged with academics from Harvard University to share the secrets of his 26-year career at Old Trafford, airing his views on the “sheltered” lives led by modern professional players and explaining why he has had to tone down his notorious “hairdryer” blasts.

As part of a study by the Boston-based institution’s Business School, led by professor Anita Elberse and Tom Dye, Ferguson revealed how he plans the season, prepares his team, signs players and his ruthless streak in dealing with those who step out of line.

Ferguson admitted it was not his style to divulge the inner workings of his regime but, as he approaches his 71st birthday, he relented.

“When you’re approached by an institution like Harvard, you know you are dealing with top quality,” Ferguson told the Harvard Gazette. “I had to consider that I was opening myself up to something I’ve never done before. But at this stage of my life, I felt that if I’m helping young people progress through their own routes to management, then ultimately that was an important and compelling factor for me.”

Elberse and Dye, the case study co-author, went to Manchester last year to conduct comprehensive interviews and meetings with Ferguson, past and present players, and United staff. Ferguson then came to Harvard this autumn to teach a class.

The study included an analysis of how he maintains discipline in the squad, with Ferguson explaining why he will get rid of any player who he feels is no longer under his control, a ruthlessness with which Jaap Stam and David Beckham will be familiar.

“We fine them, but we keep it indoors,” he said. “You can’t ever lose control — not when you are dealing with 30 top professionals who are all millionaires. And if anyone steps out of my control, that’s them dead.”

However, he conceded that he has had to evolve his approach over the years.

“Players these days have lived more sheltered lives, so they are much more fragile now than 25 years ago,” he said. “I was very aggressive all those years ago. I am passionate and want to win all the time. But today I’m more mellow.

“And I can better handle those more fragile players now. There’s all this hype about hairdryers and anger and so on. You can’t always come in shouting and screaming. That doesn’t work.

“But there’s another side to it, which is more in terms of how I have fostered relations with people and developed the team over the years. ‘For a player - and for any human being - there’s nothing better than hearing ‘well done’. Those are the two best words ever invented in sports.”

If that sounds a little like the fire within him has dimmed, Ferguson hinted that was far from the case as he revealed his “anger” at Manchester City beating United to the Barclays Premier League title on the final day of last season.

“Another day in the history of Manchester United, that’s all it was,” he said. “It created the drama that only United can produce. Who would have thought that Blackburn, being bottom of the league, would beat us 3-2 at Old Trafford? Or that Everton would draw with us when we were up 4-2 with seven minutes to go?

“I’ve still got a wee bit of anger in me, thinking of how we threw the league away last season. My motivation to the players will be that we can’t let City beat us twice in a row.”

Johnny Evens signs new 3 and half year contract. SSN.

would like a new centre half please

Camel Face's days are numbered, i'd imagine his replacement is being lined up for the start of next season or the end of it, I wouldn't be surprised if Fergie gives Pulis a call and gets Shawcross back.

it'll be interesting to see how Vidic looks when he's back to full fitness.

CRISTIANO RONALDO wants to re-join Manchester United next summer.

SunSport can reveal the former United star wishes to quit Real Madrid and return to Old Trafford, a day after boss Alex Ferguson admitted he would love him back.

Ronaldo, 27, has already told pals as well as ex-Red Devils team-mates he wants to “come home”.

The bombshell news comes days after Real Madrid were pitted against United in a mouthwatering Champions League tie.

But the £80million world record signing admits a deal at the moment seems “impossible” due to the vast sums involved, which Fergie conceded.

Ronaldo has fired 170 goals in 169 games since his move to Real in 2009.

He has a one BILLION euros get-out clause, which is around £810m, on a deal that has 2½ years left to run.

Madrid would want around £122m for their prize asset.

But selling him would easily cost club president Florentino Perez re-election this summer.

Ronaldo is keen to move back to a club where he is loved like no-one else and not just another star. Also he wants to work again with Fergie.

not exactly bombshell news,

When Beckham went to Madrid the money from shirt sales and merchandise went some way into paying Madrid back the fee the spent pretty quickly,

It'd be interesting to see how much Money would be recouped after Ronaldo's potential return, (not to mention the fact that that 80 million is still seemingly gaining interest in a bank somewhere.)
