They are retiring his shirt, it will only be re-allocated to one of his sons, the eldest, is 13 and in the Milan youth team, he will be given then number 3 when he breaks through.But yea, legendBeen playing for AC for 24 years, and has 26 winners medals with them.In a all time XI, he gets in at left-back.

you do retain it with Guulit, Rijkaard, Baresi, Maldini, Ancelotti, Costacurta and the one and only Van Basten in ur sideMaldini family is milan grandad to grandson you know kinda deep like the idea about his son reclaiming the shirt number

Champions league European Cup Words can not sum up this guys contribution to football over the years.and the fact that he is a one lub man puts him in the category of ledgend that not many are part of.

Only became the uefa champions league in 92. 92-93 season the format and nameChanged.Guys a legend, amazing to play at such a high level for so many years.

And to add to the Maldini said in a recent World Soccer interview that, "I am not going to coach. It's a great job but very stressful and it involves some of the things I like least in football. At the end of the game, I see [Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti] do seven different interviews answering the same questions seven different times. Also, I wouldn't be at ease of having to go to Coverciano [the Italian federation's technical centre] to be taught about football, just to get my coaching badge. I have two business interests that I intend to follow up more closely. I have a clothing line with my friends and we also have a company that does house restoration. But, apart from that I simply do not have definite plans and I don't want to say I will be doing this or that when at the moment I don't really know"
